Why is the Legate so dangerous?

Post » Wed Mar 17, 2010 8:39 pm

I use this is in all "realism" topics, the best plot device for why humans are so resilient in Fallout is because of the mutated FEV that was released when the Red Chinese nuked West Tek, the released FEV was mutated by the radiation and was spread out over the Earth, causing mutations that radiation could not cause alone, such as Radscorpions or Mole Rats, while humans became so durable, this is a great plot device to back up the RPG mechanics of unrealistically durable opponents, as long as it stays within reason.

If I ever have kids, I am going to say "Eat your spinach, so you grow up to be big and strong like Legate Lanius!"

The British troops weren't "any idiots", they were well trained in the tactics necessary to prevail against melee armed opponents like Zulus. As long as the Brits were able to maintain thier formation and keep up thier fire, they could hold. But when the Zulus disrupted thier formation at Isandlwana, they successfully wiped out the British force.....though they took so many casualties thier King was appalled and scarcely considered it a victory.

He has special healing powder in game, so maybe he's all whacked out on 'drugs'?

They put that in with the patch to cause problems for those of us who like to just pop his melon. Took me five JSPs to the head to kill him last run....actually had to use VATS.

Ever heard of evadeing? I could easly imagen Lanius fighting of five vetran rangers simply by dodgeing, sprinting and being brutal enough to demoralize them.

Edit : He's even faster than the demi-god of the Mojave... I mean Curior Six. Check the vault.

Yep. With both of his legs crippled he's still slightly faster than the Courier. The man is a machine.

You know it's a sniper.... I don't think anyone would be either fast enough to shoot him when he's close, or stupid enough to shoot him when he's far away, becus if the bullet drops in speed or power, he'll just walk it of and send a Furmentarii or any sort of assassin to kill your silly ass!

Really I've taken 2 shots and killed a ncr vet

When I was level 20-something it took me 15 missles to kill one NCR Veteran. That was just ridiculos.

It was pretty difficullt to kill Legate Lanius, but I managed to do so without dying on two playthroughs. (I used a hell of a lot of ammo though)
