"Don't worry, Mikey. I'm gonna get you outta here." Simon said in an unsure tone. Mike groaned as he looked around. This damn building. Nothing in here but crumbling concrete, burned up books, old skeletons. This God-forsaken place was the definition of "ruin". Simon grunted while trying to lift the piece of wall that had fallen on his cousin. It was so heavy. They made these places to last. Or at least last long enough to fall on someone 200 years after a nuclear holocaust. "Push, Mikey! If you help me, I can get you outta of this!" Mike struggled, and attempted to push his back against the concrete while Simon pulled it up. Surprisingly, it worked. Simon grabbed Mike by the arm, pulling him up faster than he should have. Mike cried out in pain, his body was definitely too hurt to walk on his own. Simon put Mike's shoulder around him, and they began to move.
As they hobbled to the staircase, they heard a noise. A noise they shouldn't have heard. Music. A song they had both heard before; Easy Living- Billie Holiday. They both stopped in their tracks. They thought they were alone in this "abandoned" building. This is not good...
"Simon, where is that coming from?" Mike said in obvious pain.
"I don't know- But we're not staying long enough to find out. Let's go. Just down these stairs, and we can go home." They slowly made their way down the stairs, the music seeming to get louder and louder, and then dying back down to almost nothing, before getting loud again. They couldn't pinpoint where in the Hell it was coming from. All the while it felt as though something was behind them, chasing them. But when Simon looked back, nothing was there. Nothing he could see, anyway. Chills covered their bodies, and they began to panic.
"We need to get out of here!" Mike cried. "Oh god, my f*cking LEG! Gah!" They reached the bottom 3 stairs of the dimly lit building. They were about to set their next foot down when all of a sudden- WHAM! They are physically shoved onto the hard ground. "[censored]!" Mike cried. The music became louder than ever before. Simon got up, and grabbed Mike's arm again, pulling him up a bit slower this time.
"C'mon, Mikey! The door is right there. Lets get the [censored] outta here!" Simon said, pulling Mike as fast as he could without hurting him. They finally make it to the front door, and then the unthinkable happens. "Uh-oh." Simon said.
"UH-OH? What the [censored] does 'UH-OH' mean?! Open the damn door up!" The music stopped. They both froze.
"It's locked..." Simon said in a grim tone. They turned to face each other. Then they heard it.
"GRRRRRAAAAAAAAHHGGGGG!" The ferals. Where did they even come from? This place had no sign of life at all when they entered! The raspy screaming and gurgling got closer and closer. Mike drew his 9mm pistol, and fired into the dark hall the screams were coming from. The sounds grew even closer. Simon began trying to open to door in panic, kicking, and banging on it. Screaming for help. Mike fell to the ground , leaning against against the wall- He couldn't stand any longer. The inhuman shrieks pierced their ears, and they realized all they could do was accept their fates. Simon turned around, and he too, slumped to the floor. The feral ghouls appeared in the dim lantern light. They ran so quickly, it was hard to see their exact features. But Mike knew what they looked like. He had seen them before. Their decomposing flesh; it smelled of dead Brahmin and the sewers. The way they were missing their lips, ears, and eyelids disturbed Mike so much. He watched as they got closer. He tried to fire his weapon once more, but that was it- No more ammo. His life flashed before his eyes, and he fainted. His last thought before passing out was: "We're not leaving 'Dunwhich' alive."
