~Fallout online~

Hey everyone!
My name is Martin Monis,
I am a big fallout fan and have played all of them! I think there should be a fallout online game.

I know many people don't think Fallout would work that well as an online game, but I think it would be brilliant if was something similar to mine.

~My game idea!~

I think it would have to be set before the water was purified (The events of 3). You would play as people that first emerged from the vaults.
There would be very few settlements. You go around either soloing the wasteland, or you could form/join a tribe. apart from going around saluaging ammunition you would get metals and other materials which your tribe/clan would be able to build settlements made up of players. The players would have to maintain there settlement, (someone good at rearing would repair items, someone else might be a good at stealth and steal from other establishments)
There would be few npcs. The npc's may join your settlement, but there would be small settlements with npcs that the Brotherhood of steel protect.
If you were to die you would either completely lose your character maybe spawn at your settlement with your inventory gone (So you still keep skill points) if you die near something with a high radiation you resurrect as a ghoul....
The quest would be helping the the brotherhood of steel rebuild humanity.

If you look at the old republic, there were 3 server types. One server for nothing but roleplaying you character, that was mostly about the quest line, There was a pvp server, where you would be playing it and if you were playing as a rebel any imperial would be able to attack you. There was also a pve server, which I never saw the point off.

The game should be set out with different kinds of servers. A friendly one, Other players would not be able to attack each other or steal from eachother you would be able to play the game by yourself, you would see your own private enemy's and get your own loot. If you wanted to you could go in a party with one of your friends and you would both see the same things. So this one would be more quest oriented and not be influenced by others.

There would be a survival mode. In this players can kill each other, team up build there settlements and so on. You would be able to see other players karma. If people died another player would either revive them, they would turn into ghouls or start back at a certain point with either no gear or damaged gear. (You would not be able to play this mode by yourself)

There would be another mode as well. If people steal of you none of your items actually go, the other player would just get a random loot. Players could only attack you if you set your character to pvp (You can turn it off) Most of the game would be able to played by yourself. other players would still be able to see what you were in combat with...

I think this would be good anyway...

What are your thoughts about fallout online and my idea of what it might be like?

There was an attempt to get a Fallout Online running. Issues between gamesas and Interplay- gamesas claims Interplay defaulted, Interplay claims that gamesas set standards too high.

Long story short, it died during Alpha/Beta stage of development. Development may begin again.

Furthermore...

*Most old fans do not consider FO3 canon.

*Most of the vaults in DC were experimentals- nobody was meant to survive in them. Vault 101 was a partial exception- designed to see how long a vault could last without forcing out its residents and with an Overseer with complete control.

*Settlement building won't be for everyone. In fact, it'll more likely serve as a "Guild Hall," base of operations for a specific guild, rather than "towns" of players like you seem to imagine it.

*Ghoulification ONLY occurs with *just* the right amount of radiation exposure. Resurrecting as a Ghoul because you die (even from radiation poisoning!) breaks lore. On so many levels. Ghoulification can be present, but should be either at character creation, or a slow transformation.

*Why the heck should you be able to see other people's karma level? Unless they do something like in Mass Effect or Fable with visual effects on your character (likely dirt/raised veins that you see with most Raiders.)

*PvE is a good thing- it's for people not into RP or PvP. Just because you don't see a point in it doesn't mean other people don't.
