Just yesterday, I was doing the great gate quest. I had 14 followers including creature followers. I told them all to wait with Martin to provide assistance. When the great gate opened I quickly went inside. A storm atronach, a frost and a Xivilia were there.
I tried to fight one at a time but they all came. I was dying and I could only take about 3 more hits. Just as i thought I was just going to have to just die the adoring fan and 3 everscamps ran towards me. The adoring fan punched the Xivilia and said " run away!".
The everscamps just stood next to and attracted the attention of the atronachs.
I had just enough time to escape and heal. about 2 minutes later I looked back to where I was and saw the adoring fan still running until the atronachs shot him with frost and electricity. He died. His sacrifice wasn't forgotten.
After closing the great gate, I went back to tamriel and looked around. Jauffre died and most of my followers did to to. I looked for sigil stones and I saw..... the adoring fans corpse. It was on top of the sigil stone. I looked for a second and the body faded away. I waited days and weeks for him to respawn and he never did. The adoring fan sacrificed himself for someone who always pushes him off dive rock. I wen to dive rock later and looked down. I turned around only to see a ogre punching off dive rock. I died
That day I moved my oblivion latest autosave to a flash drive which was later dropped in a toilet.
So I lost my oblivion progress the adoring fan and my love for ogres.
Today I am starting all over and will treat fan with 23% more respect
