Crashing through Steam And will not exit after it has crashe : Fallout: New Vegas

My friend and I recently installed FNV through Steam and we woke up to find it was done and now it will not run it will crash but will not exit it says it is exited on steam but when i tried to restart steam it says please close FNV before closing then A steam error asid and cancelled closing FNV and steam so steam is constantly running unless i force quit it. Im pretty sure my computer can run out but im not sure I know my GC and my CPU are fine but I only have 1 gb ram which i saw you needed at least 2 so I was wondering if that was the issue?
