TES6... from an Author's POV

I'm an author and an elder scrolls fan.

Just wanted to highlight a great story opportunity for the next elder scrolls game. So here goes:

I would say, if anything, any premise for a new story would have to introduce new / interesting elements. One great idea would be for the return of the Dwemer for a specific reason... because of its relations to both Talos / Tiber Septim and the races of Mer.

Because the Aldmeri Dominion is reigning strong these days with the Empire bottlenecking in the war and losing so many allies in the process (Hammerfell, Valenwood, Black Marsh, Elsewyer), and because the great intolerance to the White-Gold Concordat in Skyrim, a new conflict / war can easily spark up with the Aldmeri Dominion as a result.

And with a dragonborn (who can ride a dragon on top of that) on the side of the Empire (if ignoring the stormcloak route), this would easily shift the balance of power in favor of the Empire... which in turn make them bold enough to fight against the Aldmeri Dominion once more.

(On the side note, if siding with the stormcloaks, Skyrim, itself, would probably seperate leaving the Empire at an extremely vulnerable state... still enough for Aldmeri Dominion to attack)

What makes the situation possibilities even more dynamic is the dragonborn's relationship with its history... such as Talos whom also was a dragonborn. Talos used a Numidium, once powered by the heart of Lhokan (that was rumored to be in Skyrim during the dragon crisis) to conquer all of Tamriel and pretty much spat in the faces of the Elves.

Because Talos / Tiber won, this "created" the Thalmor.

Now the Numidium was once the Dwemer's... and the dwemers disappeared. A couple of years later, Talos died... claiming godhood while at it and is still a mystery according to Tamriel Scholars. Perhaps, he disappeared with the Dwemer for the excessive use of the Numidium.

Either or... if any story is to be created, a great dynamic is to introduce the resurfacing of the Dwemer right smack in the middle of the Elsewyer / Black Marsh area where the Aldmeri Dominion reigns strong.

The reason for its dynamics is because these Dwemers were absent for many ages and can be a powerful force to side with either the Empire or the Dominion... and it'll be up to the player (a reincarnated Talos perhaps?) to determine the course of action.

So many questions alone can come with that.

Why did they disappear? (See morrowind)

Why are they coming back?

How much have they evolved since then?

What would they do upon returning to Nirn?

Do they have their own agendas?

Adding that to the political dynamics of the fourth era... you'd probably have a great story.

But why Elswyer and the Black Marsh? The other races are racist towards Khajiits and Argonians... and a new element was just brought onto their door step. Now the global attitude towards them would have to change in order to pull favor from them for harboring the Dwemers in their lands (which in turn will significantly alter any potential war that would erupt).

Plus those two places are such a mystery. How do Khajiits live? And Argonians?

If anything... those two races need a serious polygonal face lift in coolness.

Seriously! Think.......the Lion King!

Anyhow... those are just my thoughts.

(And yes, all ideas here can be used for free. No citing needed)
