Red mountain eruption = Absolete Nerevar prophecy? : The Elder Scrolls Series Discussion

Forgive me if Im wrong but...

If Nerevar ended the prophecy by becomming a skooma addicted fisherman. Wouldnt the red mountain eruption have killed dagoth and destroyed Akhulakhan (spelling?) anyway? This just seems like a big plot-hole so Im guessing Im missing something >.<

Nerevarine's defeat of Dagoth Ur and destruction/removal of the Heart leads to the diminishing of the Tribunal's Power (which is diminishing anyway) which in turn leads to the moon falling on Vivec, which in turn leads to the eruption. I think. So yes, the Nerevarine prophecy is necessary in that sense. As for if it doesn't happen? Well, Dagoth Ur is loving, in a weird way. He is also powerful. He could well have stopped the eruption if he was around at the time.

No one knew when it was going to drop, just that it would. It was people love to Vivec that kept it afloat, and after the Oblivion Crisis, the dunmer's love began to falter. Efforts were made to keep it afloat, but it ultimately failed. And the Prophecy was more about toppling the Tribunal's power, rather than defeating Dagoth Ur. Defeating him was part of it, but it was not the main goal.

Canonically, the Nerevarine prophecy ended by Nerevarine severing the Tribunal and Dagoth Ur's connection from the Heart, disbanding the heart in the process.

If the Nerevarine would've become a skooma addicted fisherman and not the one to stop the ALMSIVI and Dagoth Ur, Vivec would've stayed a god with the power of the Heart for a while longer, keeping the nasty rock thing in place and thus the crash wouldn't have happened. Eventually Dagoth would've likely overrun Morrowind.

Oh and I didn't know that Lie Rock was doomed to fall anyways. What Hellmouth says is probably true. But then, would the eruption have been enough to destroy the Heart? IIRC it took Kagrenac's tools to sever Dagoth Ur's connection, otherwise he'd just return to life even if he got pwned by an erupting volcano?

Kagrenac's tools severing the connection was nothing more than releasing the enchantments that kept the heart from leaving. By removing the enchantments, the heart left Red Mountain, and no one to this day knows where it went.

If the heart wasn't released, Dagoth Ur probably would have stopped it, or lessened its severity.
