How far has The Elder Scrolls come?

Post » Sat Dec 01, 2012 12:51 pm

On this last day of November, I feel it is appropriate to look back in retrospect on the years that have passed.

Arena, Daggerfall, Redguard, Battlespire, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim have all had their unique charm and introduced something new to the giant dinner table that is The Elder Scrolls. But how far has the series truly come?

What are your favorite features from the series? Have there been certain details or features that were included in past titles, but pushed aside in Skyrim? Using the progression seen from one past game to another, how advanced might the next Elder Scrolls title be?

(Note: This is not the thread for speculation of the setting, storyline, or content of future Elder Scrolls games. Those topics of discussion may be found elsewhere in the "Future of TES" threads. You may, however, discuss what sort of leaps and advancements you expect to see within the next title in the series. Feel free to disclose whether you believe the direction of The Elder Scrolls series is headed in a positive or negative direction as well.)

The series has improved in almost every way...except for the removal of Attributes and Spellmaking.
