MGE 3.8.2 SVN_rev-161

Post » Sat Mar 20, 2010 10:58 pm

Hi guys,

I have a problem with MGE.

Previous MGE versions, like MGE 3.8, have mods which allow improved water shaders/ripples (like improved water shader v06b)

It doesnt work with MGE 3.8.2.

Any way to enable better water shaders? Any technique is fine, as long as it doesnt look the default in MGE (which is plain water, with no water ripples and unusual silvery reflections).

I love MGE, but I dont like the bugged water.

Thanks

This belongs in the MGE thread, but meh, open up your MGEgui.exe, click on tools tab, generate distant land, go to the distant land tab, choose shader model 3.0, click on water reflections that you want, click on Dynamic water ripples, adjust height of waves and brightness of caustics to your liking, and bam, you are using Phal's water shader with rev-161.

Sorry

How to change brightness of caustics, and etc???? Where can I change it?

What percentage of height and caustic is good? Currently, it's at 50 and 50. The water looks like a smooth silver plate (with blue reflection) with random sun stuttering.

Thanks again.

Did you change your shader model to 3.0? 50/50 is fine, those are the height and brightness settings, when you installed rev 161 did you make sure to install all of it? you need to have it overwrite all of your old mge files, including the ingame.fx file and .dll files ect.....

Yes I installed MGE in properly.

Shader model 3, yes.

50/50, yes

The water still looks like blue, shiny, flat silver.

It's the same thing with past MGE builds, so I had to use the improvedwatershader 6.0b.

Any help? I enabled bloom 3 (basic) p1.1 as a shader.

Another question: what's a another good shader? Bloom 3 (basic) p1.1 is good, imo, but do you guys know better ones? Disabling bloom 3 doesnt help with the water glitch.
