Crysis 2.5

Post » Tue Dec 04, 2012 3:24 am

Really? I understand that it's the same engine, same suit (supposedly), and, annoyingly enough, same city, but does it really have to look 95% like Crysis 2? I mean in the game's time it's been 20 years, so the above arguments really don't make sense from a chronological perspective.

Same thing with Mass Effect 3, except its problems weren't in the game's appearance, but in the missed opportunities. I mean, the situation between Crysis and Mass Effect is practically the same:

- Release first entry.
- Get bought by EA.
- Release a good second game.
- Release the third game in much less time than it took to release the second, with the third looking a lot like the second and having tons of problems.

I truly hope that Crytek can manage this small window of time that EA has set for them and release something truly amazing. Especially with regards to the multiplayer--make it blow away Call of Duty and everything else.

The nanosuit is evolving and adapting (just like the ceph, i mean it is their technology). Crytek is doing new things with Cryengine 3 that we didn't see in C2. And New York is now a literal jungle. And the game isn't due for another year so they have plenty of time to make changes graphic-wise.

Idk about you, but so far Crytek is managing fine and is creating something truly amazing. Multiplayer-wise...let's just hope it's everything C2 should have been

Crysis Warhead was basically Crysis 1, but a little bit more optimized.

Indeed, but it was also just an expansion.

I do indeed believe that the game will look different on release, but the fact that it's 14 months of development inward and the UI still looks like Crysis 2 is a bit unsettling. If the suit is indeed changing, all the more reason to make it different. I do look forward to Cryengine 3's changes. Hopefully we'll see totally amazing things that we never got to see in Crysis 2, and I bet we will.

My problem is that everything from the UI to the enemies looks the same. Compare Crysis 1's changes to Crysis 2's, and you'll see what I mean.

Well of course. That's like saying Halo 3: ODST looked a lot like Halo 3. It was an expansion, not a standalone game, or part of a trilogy.

The release is one year out.
All previews of Crysis 3 from people who have seen uninterrupted gameplay footage say that it is hugely different from Crysis 2.
You are basing your opinion on the HUD and presence of a stealth kill.

You are incorrect.

Crysis 2 looked A LOT more different when the first gameplay was revealed, now it looks totally different you have to remember that the game will be out in 2013!! so this is not the final version the game is gonna be different.

Well they are building c3 using a lot of stuff from c2, so when it comes out it will basically be the same as c2. Same location, same enemy, same weapons, same hud, everything the same. Crysis 2: Episode 1. I'm not sold.

You're only thinking it looks the same because the HUD is the same. But the HUD is fine as it is, there isn't much to change (except they need to add a bloody health bar already FFS!)

I really like the imagery I've seen so far. The jungle in the urban jungle is a great concept. Plus I wouldn't want the game to have a completely different HUD. I don't know what people are expecting the game to look like.

The HUD doesn't even work properely, so I presume it is just a placeholder.

Not much reason to it when you die in three shots either way. :P
