I don't think any of this game's problems can be "patched".

I keep hearing people say the game needs a patch, but what on earth could be fixed with a patch? Other than gameplay tweaking like weapon balancing. They can't fix the major issues with this game, there's just no way. They can't just "patch the framerate". It's not like framerate is a variable in a file somewhere, and they accidentally put "10" when they really meant "60". The framerate is the result of poorly optimized code. This as to do with how large the maps are, the range of colors used, texture quality, etc, and how they use the console processing resources. They simply can't fix the framerate, unless they dramatically overhaul the game code in some way, which would require lower resolution textures, less dynamic color range, etc. So to put it bluntly, no magic patch will ever come out that improves the framerate. The framerate of this game is still going to be garbage three years from now. Then there lag and hit detection. Again, this is the result of poorly optimized code. This game is so poorly optimized, that it just chokes along, hacking and sputtering all the way. I honestly don't think a patch can address these issues. And I'm not really hearing any complaints about issues that can be patched (like overpowered guns or perks). The complaints seem to all be directed at the hideously bad performance of the game code, and I seriously think they can't be fixed with a patch.

Well, tell me how the framerate could be patched. I'd love to hear how that would be possible.

would all you guys be up to jumping in a private match together to see if the problems still remain?, I have a hunch that they wont be there at all. I think the problems lie in the distant match making. Im not a coding genius but i know alot about computer networking and im guessing if one static host is picked in a private match then the game should be fine.

If this is the case and is reported to the devs then something would have to be done with there coding and servers, as for framerate issues that wont be patched but it could all be down to lag as when i get host in a mp match i have zero framerate issues ( minus the orbital strike ones)

The framerate isn't fixable through a patch unless they turned off some of the graphics options and reduced the work-load, which isn't happening.

But there are plenty of things that can be fixed with a patch. The issue with negative nano-catalyst, the pistol silencer disappearing from your unlocked attachments, the AI pathfinding, sound files cutting out before the finish playing and certain sound effects not loading are all things that can be fixed with a patch.

I know what you mean though, it's annoying when everyday people come on and request the same exact thing that has been requested a thousand times before AND that what they are requesting isn't going to happen. But to say that none of the problems can be fixed with a patch is not correct.

I dont think hit detection is due to the game having a bad code. Whenever i host every shot registers when it should, but when i get in a game with a bad host then these "problems" start to show themselves. As for the framerate problems, the only noticeable drops I have encountered is while playing Crash Site on Skyline with the pod just under the highest spot on the map. Everything is so choppy it's sad but i mean not enough to ruin the game, at least not for me.

You're missing the point. Whether the framerate is 10 or 10,000,000, it still isn't some setting in a file somewhere that Crytek and change.

Some problems can be patched. Though a lot of things would be like the SP's AI going round in circles.

We'll see...

No, but you're not helping your argument by ridiculously overstating the framerate problem. Plus if we're talking about the framerate in multiplayer, I wouldn't be surprised if a fix to the matchmaking actually would help. I'm not exactly an expert on this stuff, but it strikes me that the majority of the issues that people complain about here stem from the fact that the game often matches you up with people at the other end of the world. And that is actually fixable, and Crytek have said they're fixing it.

It's not a clear promise, but I think this post from Cry-Adam makes it clear enough that this is one of the issues they're looking into.

OMFG There are still issues about people talking about FPS issues

What acutally is FPS? FPS- frames per second. How many given frames that are displayed per second. So you say theres FPS drop? OK maybe a little. Is the FPS drops u bich about legit acutally FPS from the game? No . But is it related to the game engine, no?

So what any graphics render would have to do to display a frame would first need to gather info. So if you lag, theres gonna be a lack of info for the graphics render to actually display the frame. So how bout you quit biching about the FPS drops and actually call it LAG.

All the FPS drops people bich about is non existent in the single player campaign, and there's 10X more info, effects, and lighting effects. Thats because the game has all its info on hand. It doesnt have to wait for the other player.

Bottom line.....ITS LAG

I believe the FPS CAN be fixed, even if indirectly.
I'm no expert whatsoever, but perhaps there may be some memory management problems or something causing the game to lag.

You're right, it certainly technically could be fixed. But it would require such drastic overhaul to the game code that it's just not going to happen. But yes, had they spent a few extra months working on optimizing the code, it would probably run a lot more smoothly now. I'm afraid they are going to do what most (all) develoeprs do at this point. Fix some bugs and glitches, tweak some gameplay balancing, release some dlc, then move on to the next game.

IF a new patch is coming hopefully it will fix most issues people are talking about. however ive seen posts were people request a controller change were R1 becomes R2 or something like that....yea i dont see that happening considering its not a glitch that needs to be fixed like alot of MP issues are.
