How to get really good at Crysis 2 ???

Post » Thu Dec 06, 2012 6:06 am

Since there are a lot of pro/elite players on the forum, I'm throwing in a question that is on many players lips (mine included).

It's fairly simple, apart from the average/casual player the C2 multiplayer also has some truly amazing players that manage to score unbelievable results like 25-2 or even 35-2 or even better. That means they can just kill pretty much everyone, and almost never die.

Now, as one of the players that have been around since the beginning, I obviously play a lot, and I do have matches where I totally own the battlefield. Yet, this usually is the result of a combination of skill, luck, maxed out modules and a good connection. But in more than 90% of the matches, I almost never have a chance to make more than two consecutive kills.

The reason:

- Random grenades that fly straight for me from almost all over the map
- Some guy that just happens to be exactly on the right spot to shoot me while I shoot another guy
- A dude that simply shoots me in the back (I get that a lot)

How do the pro's survive random grenades and back-shooters who always get me? Because they almost never die and I just don't understand how you can do that.

I want honest and useful answers please.

One way I stay alive is avoiding these problems all together.

Random grenades come from players, correct? Where would a player throw such a grenade? In the direction he believes enemies are in.
Question is, how does your position get revealed to your enemies? It's one of three things:

-Your teammates. They can either be firing unsilenced rounds or can be just walking around uncloaked near you.

-The enemy sees your position on the killcam after you kill him, or he just throws a grenade to the position he died in to get lucky.

-You're not moving very strategically and your position is being revealed as a result. This includes sprinting head-on at groups of enemies and moving across open ground without scanning the battleground beforehand.

To avoid these problems:
-Keep a distance between you and any noobs on your team. Don't pay the price for their reckless mistakes.

-Relocate yourself after every kill, so that your enemy's luck grenade won't hit you, and the enemy team won't be able to simply find you near the location of the kill. This would also help in surviving backshooters.

-Scan open-ground areas before you decide to move through it. It's essential to have at least some knowledge of your enemies' whereabouts before moving in for a kill. This includes enemies watching your target, possible camping noobs in the area, and snipers.

Being killed by a backshooter is usually caused by either you being reckless or your killer being stealthy or tactical.

-You're firing at a target while you're on open ground, easily spotted by any nearby enemies.

-You decide to attack a target without knowing if he's alone or with a teammate.

-You play carelessly, not turning around to check your six every now and then.

-You charge at a hologram like a savage beast.

To avoid these situations:

-Always fire from a safe/partially safe location. Either be behind cover or near some easily-accessible cover. Don't leave yourself open.

-Use your Visor to find enemies instead of just running and leaving it all to chance whether you missed an enemy or not. This is by far the most useful advice I can give you for survival and tactical play.

-Turn around often to check your back. Everybody is very familiar with the common backshooters and backpunchers that cloak and get behind you for easy kills.

-Don't just sprint at any target you see; take a second(literally a second) to anolyse his movements. Is he out of energy? Is he moving towards me because I'm tagged? Does he feel secure enough to walk across the field unguarded? IS HE REAL? For the hologram case, the visor also provides you with invaluable information. You won't be able to tag a hologram.

_______________________________

That's about it when it comes to survival and tactical play for me. I try to practice these as much as I can while playing. To play strategically, you won't be able to just sprint around looking for prey like a wild animal(you get used to this after scoring high a good number of times), so your number of kills may go down a bit until you learn to use your gathered information to your advantage.

Also don't expect these things to completely stop happening. Unless you're so good that you'll never get caught from behind, you're bound to get shot in the back every once in a while, I know I do! Random grenades... it's hard to avoid them when they always fly directly towards you, isn't it?

Very good ?
Everyone has there own play style so the possible answers are endless.

Random grenades svck, not really a whole lot u can do besides TruePies comments.

I generally finish in the top 3 and get most lethal a good amount of the time. I constantly scan left to right really fast. Basically looking and double taking if something seems misplaced.

Nano recharge.... Hide recover fast start movin.
Light weapon, with the feline I very rarely get shot in the back.
C4 is your friend. If I jump in somewhere and see 2 or more people I drop c4 and scramble. Then jump back to the action and start shooting. Stick around obstacles. If you get in a jam the obstacles can save your life.

Tag enemies if far away don't try to shoot them
Play with good people haha use there maximum radar to your advantage.
Follow your uncloaked newbs into battle chances are someone will shoot/melee them and you can take out a weakened opponent easly. Haha
I'll think of some more ideas later and add them

Well, I see one consistant thing ...ET/NR, SE + Melee. ...Run up to player ~ Melee ~ run away.

All the "top" players I've played seem to use this class; usually with a feline. Not taking anything away from their ability, they are good players ~ but when going 25-2 etc. game, after game ~ using the same (or variation of the same class ~ i.e. Marshall instead of Feline ~ still only shooting at what seems like a last resort) ...leads me to think that it has "something" to do with it.

Oh, I'm not talking about Double Melee btw, regular "run-up with SE and punch them in the back Melee".

If and when I've levelled up all my guns ~ I'll try it out on my Submachine Gun for a while, see if it helps my game (although, without using Melee ~ I feel it's cheap).

I can only assume they stay away from choke-points (avoid the random frags) and pick their prey a little more carefully than us regular-joes. Plus with SE/ET you can run away from a frag (unless cooked) pretty easily.

Skill has something to do with it of course; they've found their class/style and stick to it. ...and going by 90% of players ~ it's ET + SE + Melee.

Yeah I agree with all your posts above.
When it comes to modules there are only a few that are actually worth using when you don't want to be killed easy.
NR and ET are the only good/useful ones, together with Stealth Enhance (you really can't do much without it).

The cloak and run guys also use mobility enhance because they can't afford to run out of energy every few seconds, I agree with Mecha that they are probably better in picking out their targets (usually more isolated players) to avoid being shot down while they perform their little show. It tricks me though how they can figure out where the others are, in order to avoid them.

As far as the gun are concerned, they are all a bit too slow/underpowered. As far as Feline and SCAR or SCARAB are concerned 1 mag = 1 kill.
Only the FY71 seems to have sufficient stopping power to allow more than one kill without having to reload. Recoil makes it severely inaccurate for distance though...

And yeah, I'm a real grenade magnet :) Got four grenades at once a few days back, it blew me all over the map... I believe I can flyyyyyyyyyyy

very true, always annoys me. Normally when you kill one guy and the other kills you you should do two things next time it happens ( go into armour from stealth so no wasting energy, if you cannot do this use energy transfer ) and run and put stealth back on and jump away. You may be thinking, but even if they hit me with one bullet i am dead because i lose all my energy, but trust me, a noob cannot see people in stealth and 9 times out of 10 will not hit you :D

good advice from everyone so far.

tag up where possible and try get your team to do the same, i notice if you tag somebody alot of the time others start tagging too. spend one game tagging and if you'r squad are good watch the difference it make's.

for the random grenades use detonation delay, it also redirect's the jaw away from you. it won't save you from the l-tag as far as i remember.

check you'r back regulary.

jump up and away/over when you see someone heading for you full steam, chance's are they have no intention of pulling the trigger.

put the sensitivity up on your controller.

keep moving as much as possible.

use the hologram attachment, send two in quick succession in slightly different direction's to bait the enemy. it work's well on cs with player's who have no interest in the objective and hang around for player's to spawn and shoot/melee them in the back.

you could also use retriever to pick up the tag's.

use scarab with extended mags/iron sites/holo, it's a good alround gun imo.

k-volt is under used too. it's tricky to get use to but i like it.

scar is an out and out beast.

favorate mods are
airstomp

stealh enhance

retriever

don't be afraid to switch up your class during a game. you have to adapt to each game as you see fit. sometimes you can go all out in armour other's you need to be more cautious and stealthy.

practice practice practice :)
