Why do people that play rpgs such as oblivion like it?

I love playing Oblivion for the exploring and freedom to go where I want to go. Interesting quests, fun puzzles, beautiful scenery, it all makes the game for me. I play Fallout3 and will play FNV for the exploring too but I wish there was an option that said:

___ Yes, give me gruesome death animations.

___ No, I don't want gruesome death animations.

You know which I'd choose. I'd still want the game to be M for Mature, just not so graphic. I like that Oblivion is not that graphic.

And the best RPG games are the ones that give me the option to play as a female.

btw, how come I feel a lot more realistic in stealth playing oblivion than other rpgs. I mean, I find it stupid how people call stealth in games like WoW where you just click a button and you magically turn invisible >.>

After playing games like Morrowind and Oblivion, I find it extremely hard to get into any other RPG's because of the simple fact that they aren't as open ended and very dull in the sense of the content. I mean, games like Fable take literally less than a day to beat. That's no fun to me when I know it's possible to make a game that you technically can't beat. Get what I'm saying? It's just too good of a game, and makes every other game studio seem silly for even trying, because they always fall oh so short. Even Dragon Age: Origins wasn't that enjoyable to me because I've played Morrowind and realized that Morrowind is what a true RPG means to me.

My Sneak skill always raises to 100 first because I sneak around in all the caves, mines and ruins but that's not why I love this game. Magic is my favorite part but I really use all the skills and go for the balanced character. I'm not familiar with the other games you mentioned yet. I went back and read your original question and I'm afraid I'm in the same boat as you in one respect. There just aren't more RPG games yet with the kind of play that I love like Oblivion. I hope there are more coming down the pike though. Good luck finding yours. :)

The only problem with stealth killing in Oblivion, is that some NPCs have a high "Responsibility" or whatever it called and can see you commit a murder even if they aren't around. I would say Oblivions stealing is superior but Fallouts assassinating is better. Although there arent many big communities in Fallout, so its hard to kill people without attracting a crowd. Have you not played Fallout?

I believe you got that mixed up. In Fallout every NPC sees you when you stealth kill, unless you use the Mr.Sandman perk. Oblivion if your in sneak mode and the crosshair is faded then if you kill someone no one sees. I killed a NPC close to a guard and no bounty. Fallout, I used a silenced pistol in a house and as soon as I stepped outside the entire town was hostile. Its one of the many things that makes Oblivion better than Fallout.

Im a man who likes stealth too, but you shouldnt look for it in Oblivion. I'd suggest Hitman 2,3,4. Especially 4 with its endless opportunities to kill people/ be a ninja.

Oblivion is more of a do-whatever-you-want game. Which from most i like that you dont have to walk to some holy castle and ask for effin god what you must do next. It contains alot of mystery, "whats behind that door" you can just walk away. And i just love that the most about Oblivion.

OBLIVION great LOL
Every time i try to enter the the Temple of the one with martin the screen goes black and i can still hear all the fighting going on outside but it does nothing, i let it go for a couple of minutes and it would not do anything so i had to shut it off and it corrupted my files. This also happened in some caves as well as some ruins. If i kept trying it would sometimes let me in but i could not save cause it would freeze and if i didn't save and finished the cave or ruin it would not let me out cause it would freeze. I have spent more time redoing things over and over then i have actual played the game. The first time that it corrupted my files it set me back 150hrs to where it would finally work. The second time this happened it corrupted my hard drive and i am now trying to fix that problem. Now i cant play anything until my PS3 is reformatted which will take hours THANKS!
When i first started playing i was having a blast and loved it, now I am so disappointed in this game cause of all the bugs and problems it has. How does a company that boast how much time they took to build this game and how good it is and that it is even better then the others before it let a game out that has so many problems and bugs? How could they not know about theses problems. GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION wow really! and it makes the top ten. I spent good money on this game and spend more time on the internet trying to fix the problems then i do plying it, sad thing is i don't get paid to do that and it seems that the people that do, shouldn't be getting paid as well.

On my first game (PS3), I got hit with the animation bomb and couldn't finish. It just kept freezing up. I read posts here and determined that I had about a year in game days to play before getting hit with the a-bomb again. I also read that some people are hit at 200 days so it's different sometimes. My second game was great because I had learned a lot and was able to finish the main quest. I was very unhappy with Bethesda and wrote a polite letter to them. My email was ignored so I was even more unhappy with them. I did deliver a punishment to them ($-wise) and then moved on. I came to the conclusion that they were pushing the envelope on gameplay because Oblivion is so huge. I can understand problems in a game that is so huge and I do want companies to keep pushing the envelope, you know? Maybe my situation is like yours? You didn't give other details and there's probably another thread going for this a-bomb discussion though. Only you can decide how you want to deal with the problems in the game. I've learned to enjoy the good...a LOT. I'm on my third game now. Good luck.
