Sainthood in Imperial culture?

I stumbled across http://www.imperial-library.info/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1247253789 old thread earlier today, and it had me wondering, do you think the Cyrodiils practice veneration of the saints like the Temple Dunmer do (in lore, not in the games)? In-game, we've seen references to Saint Alessia, obviously, and some vague mentions of "myriad saints and spirits" in the PGE, but otherwise, it seems more like they practice general respect for their ancestors, with a focus on prominent emperors like Reman Cyrodiil and Tiber Septim.

On a somewhat tangential note, how does Nibenese ancestor worship differ from the Dunmer variant?

I am reasonably confident that this has hardly been explored at all, except in the PGE. It's the sort of question that people were expecting Oblivion to answer.

The funny thing is, people say the Cyrodiil aren't exotic/lack depth, but they weren't designed originally to be like that.

Edit: I like that you brought that thread up. The lack of attention given in Oblivion, in a way, makes the Marukhati/Alessian/Nibenese stuff an endless well of interesting fan fiction, trying to fill in the gaps.
