I've discovered walking! :D

Hello. I recently discovered something new about Oblivion. And that is - the game is much better when you WALK through it, instead of RUN through it.

Now, I imagine for long journeys this wouldn't be too practical, but for shorter trips, walking is brilliant! I just took a nice leisurely stroll from Cheydinhal to Lord Rugdumph's manor, and it was really peaceful and relaxing. I was really able to pay attention to the beautiful details of the world that sometimes I take for granted and just become a blur in the background. The carefully placed Clouded Funnel Caps, the stalks of Motherwort, the beautiful tapestries in Rugdumph's manor, the pictures on the wall, the pieces of silver aligned on the tables, the beautifully knit rugs, etc. I've seen all these things in the past, but it was extra nice to just be walking slowly past them and admiring them as I went. Really gave me a sense of "wow, this game is amazingly crafted".

I know I probably sound crazy, but this was really enjoyable for me. Try it sometime! If you don't already.

So what do you say? Do you RUN or WALK?

So glad to hear you're enjoying the slower style!

Buffy is pretty agile and nimble but has horrible endurance and is quite short - so running is pretty much a loser for her (since almost anything can catch her). That is why she travels everywhere on her precious mare. Superian is a leggy thoroughbred and the fastest horse in Cyrodiil. Unless there is a need to run however, they walk almost all the time.

I usually use a mod called "Running Revised" that makes my characters run and walk. When a character's Fatigue gets down to zero the mod makes the character walk. When the character's Fatigue comes back up to 25% the character can run again.

Aside from that, I listen to what my characters want. I don't force them to run, nor do I force them to walk. Neither of those approaches are roleplaying, in my opinion. When a particular character wants to run I let her run. If a particular character wants to walk, I let her walk. It's all up to the character.
