Launcher loop on Windows 8

I've had this issue where both Bethesda Fallout games won't launch, and the launcher just loops on me instead. The weird thing is that it appears to only happen on my computer (since Windows 8 is plug and play, I've had the chance to try the same hard-drive on other computers with different configs).
Bethesda's tech support won't help me as both of these games aren't officially supported by Windows 8 (the best reccomendation they could give me is to try installing Vista or XP instead) and even though I've made my best to find out what the problem is on my own, I'm still struggling to find the root of it.
I've bought both games off Steam and I tried everything from checking the program's cache to completely redownloading both games (and everything in between, like running the launcher with admin permissions or using compat mode) and the situation haven't improved (unsurprisingly, as both games worked fine on other computers).
The only thing I could suspect at this point is a driver issue, yet they appear to work fine with pretty much any other game I've dared to attempt running on that system. If anyone is interested in helping me, I ran a diff on the DXDiag logs of a computer with a working setup and my own personal one (apparently, I don't have the permission to post links, I'll have to find another way to include it) to point out the important differences between the two.
I'll try running and comparing two procmon logs soon, as I really want to get these games to work.

Any help is appreciated, I'm really starting to lose it.
