Idea: Bad guys react to other dead bad guys

Post » Mon Mar 22, 2010 5:11 am

Several bandits in a cave, you kill one, a wandering bandit (with appropriate lighting/carried light source) comes by the corpse that you didn't dispose of.
Is it possible to have that bandit forced into a frenzy, weapon at the ready, aggressively looking for the PC? Possibly alert the others, and have them in a frenzy?
Surely they'd notice if so-and-so was missing, or lying dead right in front of them...

It might be possible to do a within line of sight type script on them, though I honestly don't know how to go about it. I know that there are line of sight scripts in a few mods, though they are typically buggy......that being said however, I am sure its possible, if not practical, Fliggerty needs summoned as MWSE may be more useful than morrowind's own ancient scripting engine. Come forth yee great scripting genie, for thine gifts are much appreciated and respected!!!!!!!!

That should do it, if not, we need to get Peachykeen in here to do the summoning ritual, he's vastly more experienced and fruitful in his summoning rituals than I. :P

Edit: Fixed gender misconception, my apologies PK, and thank you E-W for the correction!

I believe you could even use OnDeath and a GetDistance check.
Then alter SetAlarm & SetFight for the second NPC.

I don't think you can make an NPC "hunt" for you though. As soon as they are ready to fight, they know exactly where you are and they come towards you.
I am not familiar enough with GetLineOfSight (or MWSE) to be sure of what's possible here.

(and I'm currently too tired to think about it more than that )

How about setting up combat for the NPC with invisible dummies around the area so it appears as though he is running around looking for something and when he is within range of the PC he will attack him instead?

PK is a he. :)
That being said, the correct words for the summoning ritual are "No, that is impossible. It can never be done."

It happens in Solstheim, with the Bloodmoon quest regarding a Nord with a jealous wife, and his newfound "interest". Some NPC's do indeed react when their scripted friends/loves/partners are killed. Same for the Fort Frostmoth temple quest. These two are just two examples with different outcomes, but you get the idea. I believe the modders can answer it best, as it seems that it is all in how they are scripted. I know in the first instance, the Nord in question hunted me all over Solstheim, purely because I was chameleonic when the affront was made. Some Morrowind weeks passed when I happened upon him and was visible, and he attacked immediately.

Sounds like a great idea and yeah the bloodmoon quest comes to mind, perhaps Beth made a special area where that sort of condotion would apply only beacuse it might be too script heavy? either way it would be great to have a bit more immersion

Just throwing it out there, not that I could do anything remotely close to the concept. Sounds like it could be done, to some satisfactory level at least. But the NPC can't react automatically; he'd have to witness the death, or see the body within a reasonable close distance, and reasonable lighting.
