So first some background info. I used to play oblivion with over 100 mods, and I have over 470 hours played. I also have around 540 hours played in skyrim.

Recently I decided to finally play morrowind, and I loved it. I got it all set up and modded with 0 issues. I also never have any issues with modding skyrim. Oblivion, on the othe hand, is now deciding to be a huge pita.

Some PC specs: windows 7 64b, intel i5 3.8ghz CPU, nvidia gtx460 gpu. Let me know if I need to put anything else.

So back to the problem: I decided I wanted to play oblivion again while I'm waiting for the dragonborn dlc. I reinstalled the goty edition through steam, I also downloaded wrye bash as well even though I've never needed to use it before. So after installing the 4gb patch I started downloading mods from nexus.

I normally use nmm for Beth games. It worked perfectly fine for fo3, morrowind, and skyrim. For some reason though I get a weird error when trying to switch to oblivion. It says a file is missing. So I downloaded obmm after multiple attempts to get nmm to work, 2 complete reinstallations, and hours of dikeing around.

So I'm installing mods with obmm and using boss to sort them. I got all the mods I wanted set up and ready. I installed archive invalidation invalidated since qarl's mod recommended to. Now I get ctd's at startup. I found the cause, that HUD bars mod (can't think of the name atm), but after disabling it I now get the weirdest thing happening.

When I start oblivion, the various starting screens will play, then the logo comes up, zooms out and says oblivion like normal, but once that finishes that screen goes blank. The logo and all menu options disappear. The music still plays and the background is still animated as normal but there is nothing to click on.

I uninstalled all my mods, and the game itself again. I have the game reinstalling now.

I need to know what I'm doing wrong here. I've spent over 10 hours trying to get this game to work to no avail. I would also very much like to know why nmm isn't working for this one game but fine for everything else.

I've spent hours searching on the Internet for guides and such but all the ones I've found are mostly outdated and don't address nexus mod manager at all. They also for the most part assume you are NOT using the GOtY edition.

Can anyone please help me out here? Even if its just posting a couple links to some tweak guides or something. Any help is appreciated. I cannot figure this out for the life of me.
