With that out of the way, I happened to be looking at a map of Tamriel http://www.imperial-library.info/sites/default/files/gallery_files/minibigmaproadslore31gv.jpg and thinking about the scale of the Elder Scroll games.......................
Arena: We'll disregard Arena as it was impossible to travel from one town to another with fast travel and therefore I don't really consider it a true continuous game world.
Daggerfall: Arguably the largest game world to date, it was(is) impressive for that reason alone. However it is a bland and lifeless world. An absolute chore to travel across without fast travel due to lack of any scenery or wildlife, it's only recommended to do so for an outside purpose.
The modern games are MUCH smaller in scale than the older two. All three together are roughly the same size and 0.05% the area of Daggerfall's game world. That's a drastic difference if I ever did see one. Here's the point of my thread, Vvardenfell of TES III is much larger in comparison to Cyrodiil (TES IV) and Skyrim (TES V) than the map of Tamriel would suggest. The result? Epic province mods such as PC and SHoTH actually have larger areas than their equivalents in TES IV and V!!
And what's truly astonishing is that playing through them feels just like Vvardenfell. I say this all the time but when all three high quality province mods are completed we will have the largest Elder Scrolls game world since Daggerfall (not nearly that size however) with thousands of times more detail, the most variety and highest level of complexity in any TES title ever. I can't wait for that day, and the day the other provinces of Tamriel are completed in TES III's game world. Until then I'll enjoy all the games of the series and the huge variety of adventures and mods they all offer. So until next time everyone.
