Dumb it Down debate...My thoughts (topic was locked darn it)

Im sorry but I have to add my two cents to that Dumb it Down video debate....

I am slightly biased towards Morrowind because I have played that game since I saw the previews for it on Toonami way back when it first came out (and yes I play only on consoles). I like Oblivion (beat every quest possible in that game) and Im actually replaying that game presently. I only rented Skyrim for two days where I beat the main quest and became the arch-mage at winterhold. Skyrim was fun but not as impressive as the previous games. So in short Morrowind>Oblivion>Skyrim

I only read about 4 of the 8 pages worth of discussion but reading some of the inept remarks was making my blood boil!!

Im just going to point out a few that annoyed the hell out of me:

I hate how someone can become the head of the mages guild by only using one tiny lil stank piece of crap low level spell and have no attributes that are essential to becoming a mage! Im talking about you Oblivion and Skyrim. So what in Morrowind you didn't have to actually cast a spell to become the Archmage, you had to have the ABILITY to cast impressive (NOT PUNY LIL WEAK) spells period! The same goes for every faction in Morrowind....you had to have the ABILITY to be the best in each guild or faction! I mean why in the hell should a brute with 10 intelligence and one weak spell be able to be archmage. Why in the hell can a puny weakling with 10 strength be head of the fighters guild? wtf?!

And just because in Morrowind you have the option to exploit your way to the necessary attributes through trainers doees not mean it was broken....it just meant that your character some how knew all the ways to make himself uber-powerful in a short period of time. (aka powergaming at its worst)

BTW I didn't even watch the video that started the debate but I already know the main points the video probably made, things such as:

In each sequel we lose numerous weapons, skills, attributes, number of organizations to join, consequences, speech options, powreful unique items, spells, etc. What we gain are more non killable players, non loseable items, easier and easier travel!

Dont you remember reading books such as the Hobbit or the Dragonlance series where travel was half the danger?! Now with all the fast travel and magic compasses travel is no longer an issue for any adventurers! That is garbage imho!

On a side note I'd also like to point out that there was a huge difference between bows and crossbows in Morrowind. Bows were slow to fire and had random amounts of damage based on skill. Crossbows fired much faster and did a set amount of damage. End of story there.

In a nutshell what I'm saying is that those of you who believe that these games are getting more hardcoe, more complex, or more realistic have your heads buried in the sand like an ostrich or maybe buried up your backside! Im not saying the later games aren't as fun, because FUN is subjective, facts are not. There is a lot more I could say, but you get the point I hope...end of rant!

So you rented Skyrim for 2 days and are basing your opinion off of that? Have you played any of the DLC's?

You act as if all TES is doing is taking away from Morrowind one game at a time, which is a load of [censored].
