Trying to get back into Oblivion...so very hard..:( Lack of

It's been a very long time since I've played OB. 2-3 years?

Trying to pick it back up (360) and its just...slow? I can't seem to find anything to do. Quest are either part of a flowing line or nonexistent. I can't find anything to do. Every NPC I talk to has generic nothingness to say. This is odd. I want to do some misc quest and level up a bit before I jump into the mq or guilds but its like..I can't find any quest other than those main lines.

Walk around! See the sights! Talk to people!

That's what one of the NPCs in the Imperial City suggests (something like that anyway). Not every NPC has a quest attached to him or her, but you'll eventually find stuff to do. It's out there.

Haven't you been to the Imperial City yet? Talk to the merchants in the Market District, that'll be a good place to start.

Where exactly are you looking to pick up quests? In towns you can usually start miscellaneous quests by talking to people about rumours. Sometimes you get a mention of certain topics and can afterwards ask people about them.

You have a lot of guilds to join - Fighters Guild, Mages Guild and these two really anyone can join. Then you also have the Thieves Guild and the Light Sisterhood but these two require some motivation and work to join.

I just started playing too.

A lot of quests are found just by asking people about rumors. You have to have a high enough disposition with whoever it is you are speaking to. So you have to do the little persuasion mini game with a lot of them until their disposition is at level 60 or 70 with you.

One of the best quests in the game can be had if you visit Bruma a couple times over the course of a couple weeks. You will be approached by someone.
Or.... go into some Aeylid ruins and sell yer loot. If you know what I mean. :hubbahubba:

I like how we're all kinda hinting at things to do, without totally hand-holding the OP. :poke: I dunno how you all feel, but I've always liked the fact that not every new NPC or object or location (etc.) is a quest opportunity. I like the fact that there's lots of exploration into 'dead' areas.
