Falmer and Dwemer

Post » Tue Jan 01, 2013 1:20 pm

This has been bothering me for a while, but only now have I thought about asking about it. Using broad generalizations we know the Altmer are great with magic, the Bosmer great with bows, the Orsimer are great with melee weapons, and Dunmer are great with all three. However, what about the Falmer and Dwemer?

Broad generalizations, huh? The Falmer were great at dying, and the Dwemer were great at everything.

I'm really unhelpful today.

The Dwemer were great at being cognizant of the fact that the world doesn't really exist.

The Dwemer were basically athiests who put faith in machinery. Gear-heads, pretty much.

We're not totally sure what the Falmer's "hat" is in terms of weapons, so to speak. But as of right now... they basically TES' version of Morlocks.

The Falmer/Snow Elves seem to be exactly like the Altmer.

the deep elves were gods. they were great at magic as there constructs prove, they are powered by soul gems probably some really powerful conjuration spell. they were geniuses as there understanding of the universe and technology proves. they had a gods heart that just proves there were amazing. they were also arses since they did enslave a pretty powerful race, snow elves, but that proves they were great in military matters. so pretty much they are perfect which makes them gods, and they left the mortal realm for a better one more fitting for gods.

From Dawnguard I got the idea that Falmer were essentially Altmer http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RecycledINSPACE, while the Dwemer were probably more magic-oriented.

They were not gods, just really powerful and intelligent beings.
Being a god implies to control some sphere of influence, I think.
Anyways, it would not mean anything to say they were gods.
They didn't see themselves as such, others didn't, and they were not worshipped.

And to answer the author, I don't think we can truly say that these and those were good at this and that.
We can say that the Dwemers were good at magic (which is true) but it was men that twisted the world and broke the dragon, etc etc...

True they are not gods but they are still so wonderful. They do have sphere of influence, i think, they went to there own plane of existence, close enough. Everything i said they were good at i tired to give some proof.

You seem confused. I'll go point by point.

Dwemer were not gods. They were pretty good at magic. Their constructs were not conjuration spells. They were indeed geniuses.

Having dominion over a god's heart doesn't prove that you're amazing; it means you're lucky enough to have found it. Which they would not have been able to do without the Chimer.

They probably weren't that terrible at military matters, but great? They only reclaimed Resdayn from the Nords because of Chimer aid, and there are not many ways to interpret the events of Red Mountain without saying they lost, or alternatively had a pyrrhic victory. Nor did they enslave the Falmer through warfare. The Falmer were looking for an escape from the Nords, as Dawnguard says.

They did not go to their own plane of existence, befitting gods. They turned their souls into the skin of Numidium, which is a Walking Way. This is to say that they did build their own god, and used themselves to finish it. But they never activated it.They probably don't really have a "sphere of influence" since Numidium is gone.

The Dwemer were cool. They were not perfect. Even if they were, that would not make them gods.

I unfortunately can't remember which text confirms what happened to the Dwemer.

http://www.imperial-library.info/content/final-report-trebonius, at the Imperial Library. It's supposed to be a final report to Trebonus on the dissapearance of the dwarves. The most important quote in case you don't want to read the whole thing:

So the Brass God would be used as a divine skin and the souls of the Dwemer would be used to create it. So that is why they disappeared, because they sacrificed their souls to make their Brass God which they would use to return to the “first brush of Anu-Padomay,” and basically be, ‘anti-created’.
