1. Advanced Smithing - Elder Scrolls has always been a game to where you build the character for how you play the game but I feel that the smithing and weapon selection can hurt the way you design your combat style. Essentially, there is a best weapon and that is what you work your way up to which hurts some of how you want your character to look or feel like. I would love a more advanced smithing method where you would choose the design of the blade and handle (or for armor, base and Reenforcement ), then the material to make each part with. If the game then had different strength and weight for each material it would generate a balance of damage and speed. This would also mean that by choosing a different material for the blade or handle would adjust your weapons speed or damage further. Now the design is also vital to see how it would adjust the stats as well, a thin blade and thick handle means all the weight is in your hand and no matter what will be a faster weapon or vise-versa. This also would allow players to make show swords and armors if they wanted, because who hasnt wanted to make an all gold and diamond set. I think this would really add some spice to the smithing and combat.
2. Failure Doesn't Mean it's Over - I have always hated the war in skyrim. The political point is awesome, and seeing how the empire is slowly collapsing after the end of the septim family is just making me excited to see the story develop, but the actual war missions were horrid. It really didnt matter how long you took or how many troops were on your side, you were all that mattered and as long as you didnt die there was no loosing. Its always been a small problem ive had with the game and thats the fact that you either continue the story by succeeding or end it by failing a quest. Why cant a failed quest spark a new branch of the story? What if I had joined the imperials but we failed to hold whiterun and now a new battle takes place. What if I chose a team and failed at everything, then at the end ulfric offers a position on his side to break the line from behind? I really hate that no matter what in elder scrolls theres no story for quests that have a possibility of you failing and continuing to interact.
3. Alchemy=Magic=Enchantments - I will say it now, I love Fullmetal. Linking alchemy, magic, and enchantments together through the players creating their own alchemy circles would be awesome. This finally allows those who have mastered alchemy to apply it to the realm of their spells by using nature as their weapon. It allows the players to be able to research how the realm of magic works and with the science in it, unlock more efficient formulas for their spell or make it stronger. Players would not be required to learn the symbols and how the equations worked to make enchantments or to use a spell, but just like the smithing idea they would have the option of further developing what works for them and how they would like to play. I feel that this could easily be done story wise by showing the unlocking of the dwarves ancient science in magic and after years and years of research they have discovered the just the surface of the science.
Let me know what you guys think? I think it would really open up how we want our charactrs to look and feel.
