Oblivion Won't Launch?

Post » Tue Jan 01, 2013 6:04 pm

Recently I bought Oblivion for PC off of Gamestop, and used the Gamestop App to install it. After pressing "play game," my monitor turns black for several seconds, then shows a black box, and an error window saying, "Oblivion has stopped working.A problem cuased the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I've tried changing the compatibility to Windows XP SP3, and Windows Vista SP2, to no help, and changing the DEP (Data Execution Prevention), also didn't help.

Any help? I really want to play Oblivion, and I want to live stream it as well. All help is appreciated.

Just found out that it launches fine if it's windowed, but in full screen it crashes. Could this have something to do with me having two monitors?

That kind of crash usually means that Oblivion has a problem with your hardware. Do you have an onboard video chip?

That's not the problem, then. I have the same card.

Yes, your two monitors is probably the problem. I would try disconnecting one of them, and see if the game launches normally. Oblivion is flaky about multiple video cards and/or multiple monitors.
