Hey guys i just wanted to ask you what impact mousepads have on your gaming, because i never use a mousepad when gaming. It just annoys me already when im just using the pc so i dont have one anymore. But i know many, maybe all gamer here, use mousepads and i want to know if it really makes a difference. So i just want to here your opinion about it becasue it really interests me and im thinking about getting one but first i want to hear some opinions

Personally, I don't use any since a year or so, but I'm planning to buy a Razer Goliathus. I heard a lot of good about it. Not using a mousemat gives you the most space to move your mouse, but it really depends on surface of the desk. I have a normal wooden desk and I have to clean/dust it on a daily basis, bcuz sometimes my mouse is not gliding on it smoothly, minor stucks can be noticed.
Your mouse limits the surface, which can be used and vice-versa. A long time ago I had a pretty good one, Corepad Original Orange. It was a glass mat, the several mice I have used on it did not glide on it, it was hovering on it, but on the other hand, my laser mouse had tracking issues on it, seems the laser sensor don't really liked the glass surface.

You have to do some digging on your mouse and new mat, that how would they par.

It highly depends on your gamestyle but it's never a bad decision to get a mousepad. If you're playing with a really high sensitivity meaning you barely move your hand a millimeter you can surely play without a mousepad if you have a good ground to play on.

Me for my side can't play without a mousepad cos I'm having a very low sensitivity. I do wristaiming and I move a lot.
I used to play without a mousepad but the table scratched the bottom of my mouse and also I couldn't do fast movements.

I bought the Roccat Taito King Size 5mm for the simple reason that it's one of the cheapest ones. There's not really anything that would let me spend a lot of money for a mousepad but hard and soft surfaces. There is just one disadvantage of my mousepad. The edges aren't smooth and could be annoying for some people. I for my side don't have any problems with that mousepad and would recommend it to you.
Oh and if you buy mousepads that don't have a plastic surface you will have to clean it from time to time. It's not difficult and you can't do much wrong or even break it.

Playing without a mouse pad will kill your mouse gliders quite quickly.

It's always better to play on a mousepad than without it. Type depends on gamers preference, so some gamers like hard mousepads and mouse gliding on them like "on bubbles of air", some prefer cloth mousepads that offer some resistance while moving mouse. Size mostly depends on mouse sensitivity being used.

I got myself cheap Gigabyte Ghost (GM-MP8000), 400x300x5mm, and I'm happy with it. I'll probably buy another one soon, so I can replace it when it gets worn out.

Using Goliathus but never not used a mat so cannot compare. Goliathus is over half the width of my desk which is great.

I absolutely agree with this ^^ but that statement is valid only for right type od mousepads, forget about plastic, glass or aluminum mousepads. Although many branded mouses comes with spare gliders many players throw them away with mouse box right after they unpack the mouse or lose them after a while and when original gliders gets very thin they blame mouse for not being precise.

Good mousepad can have a noticable impact on mouse precision and smoothness of movement. Both optical or laser sensors can have benefits when they "read" surface below them, if that surface is a right type. As I sad above in my opinion plastic, shiny, glass and aluminum mousepads are no good choice because of: sweat from the palm. When that sweat combines with dust from air on such mousepads gliders are wearing more than usual and that leads to premature gliders "death".

Good gaming mousepad, more or less branded, can be found almost in every computer shop in price range from 5€ to 20€ or more if you want to spend more money on biger branded mousepad. Choose only those with onecolor fine sinthetic textile fabrics: grey, black or blue. Also look at the finishing quality of edges on mousepad if you want long life for that mousepad.

All in all, spending few more bucks on quality gaming maousepad is good investment: you can't expect to play like a pro if you're using cheap chinese 2€ 400dpi mouse. Same thing is with mousepads.

i have a few mousepads, some cloth and some hardpads, cloth pads are just fine, probably the best tracking off all kinds of mouse sensors will be on cloth pad. but they get dirty ,they are slow, even if they are called "speed pads" . probably the faster cloth pad on market will be zowie gtf..

hard pads are just about SPEED, they are much faster than any cloth pads, for most people, it is TOO fast . it offers the the most precision of mouse movement u can get, easier to clean, and they do not kill ur mouse feets..

my opinion? GET a mousepad .

ur right, on cloth pad ,mouse feets last forever

but im using the same feets on hard pads for almost a year now, and looking to then,it will last another 5 years..

maybe the quality of mouse feets and harpad are the diference

I use laser mouse on a desk office mat ... come on kiddies, no pads or balls ... move on;)
