Fallout 4 Speculation, Suggestions and Ideas Thread #101

Post » Tue Jan 01, 2013 12:58 pm

This topic is for ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4 so that we can keep all the discussion in one thread. At moderator discretion, threads about specific and distinct topics as they relate to FO4 and the rest of the Fallout series may be acceptable in the Fallout Series forum. General idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.

This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

You are playing a role, the role of you in some hypothetical siutation such as the plotline of New Vegas.

Also, skills and stats exists becuase it's impossible to fully simulate a players abilities in the game itself. I can't simulate my knowelge of medicines, and thier use, in the game, thus medicine skill, and the game can't fully simulate my ability to handle guns, and use them in an effective way, thus we get a partial reliance on player-skill for what they can simulate, and the skill to make up for the rest.

So skills and stats are there to simulate the players abilities, even if there is no role other than.... you. No. I disagree. That still doesn't make any sense. Either you play a role, or you don't. If you play a role, you should play by the abilities and aspirations of the role, if you play yourself, you play yourself. There's a quite big difference. If there is a middle ground (abilities X and Y are determined by the role, abilitties Z and S are determined by you), it just messes things up. That's a pretty confusing way to make an RPG.

You can roleplay yourself in any game, but you can not play a role in every game.
