Argonian questions about birth and hist

I was reading http://www.tesof.com/topic-the-races-of-teso-argonians--302, and found the following:

Argonians can reproduce both by laying eggs or bearing live young.
In a safe environment, close to the Hist and surrounded by the security of Black Marsh, they will lay eggs.
In hostile climates however they will gestate internally and produce milk, so the offspring has a better chance of survival.

The article did not quote a source, and I do not have an account there to ask the author for it. While trying to find the validity of the quoted paragraph, I found these:

While they offered an explanation to Argonian's legs in Oblivion and Skyrim, the books did not mention anything about the method of giving birth.

Then, I found this:

Argonians are ovoviviparous. [Wow. I was SURE I'd never have to use that word again.] They don't lay eggs like reptiles.
Note that Lady Argonians have big bumps on their chests.

Has the book superseded the lore in Morrowind? Or just the later generations of Argonians are different because the Hists changed the appearance of the Argonians? Are the Argonians warm-blooded or cold-blooded? Were they cold-blooded, but changed to warm-blooded by the Hists for adaptability? Were the changes only affecting those far away from Black Marsh, or through Tamriel? http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1428548-new-hist-lore/ :bonk: Are Hists the perfect solution to any lore mistakes future games make?
