Push buttons and gates issues : IV

Ok, so I'm getting very frustrated! I'm on the "ambush" mages guild quest. I've followed falcar into the ruins, and got all the way through to the balcony, where there is a push button to open the gates which are restricting the pass below. I press the button, the gates don't open. I've saved, then reloaded, restarted, done the whole thing from the beginning, and still it won't open the gate.

The other buttons in the ruins work perfectly, just this one I need to finish the quest!
I've updated the game through xbox live and it still won't work.

Can anyone help?
