Well creation engine has vast stability improvements over gamebryo, I have yet to get a crash in skyrim that I could not track down to having resulted from a mod.

I'm surprised you're having so many crashes. I'm running on a pretty crappy system, and I hardly crash since the patches. Of course, I only run three mods, so if you're running a ton, that could be it. As for mods working, some folks release some pretty half-assed mods. You can't blame the devs for other people's shoddy work.
