Oblivion and Stars

Cosmology describes stars as being holes in the inside surface of space/Oblivion. This brings up several questions.

Since the Planes of Oblivion are closer to the stars than Nirn doesn't that mean that Magnus would be visible to the Daedric and Outer Realms, taking up most of the sky in the local Planes? Stars were visible in Shivering Isles.

Cosmology as well as the diagram of the universe seem to imply that the universe is layered like an onion so does that mean that there is literally just a thin layer of black stuff separating Oblivion and Aetherius? This makes Oblivion appear as a black ball in Aetherius I presume?

Is everything from Cosmology still accurate with current lore? The bit about the moons appearing to have phases because they are shifting and rotting and not due to light reflecting off of them based on the stars being visible through the black parts of the moon only seems to have been addressed in game in Oblivion and is not true for Morrowind or Skyrim. Has anything else been noticeably changed since whenever Cosmology was written?
