necromancy is not bad , it is widly misunterstood and abused, its earned a black name by mannimarco

all arts of magic can be violent and mishandled , is a mad wizard who has mastered destruction any less dangerous than that of necromancy? if a mage cast a frenzy that caused a civilian bloodbath is that worser than summoning a skelton ? is a vicdictave mage who svcks the life force out of their patient more dangerous than a rougue amature of necromancy?

its wrong frankly , the OP in cyrodill on necromancy is that its foul and wicked . end of . traven has spear headed a witchhunt against all necromancers , and this is techincally breaking the law . the arch-mage has a right to kick out any member of his own guild , he does not have the authority or justification to send you out to hound and slaughter necromancers wherever you can find them! yes , mannimarco is an evil mage who will only be stopped by death , but we only regonize necormancy as "evil" because of mannimarco .

if mannimarco had chosen to practise illusion , destruction or even restoration , would thesse be the banned "black arts" we see in cyrodil ? yes , yes they would , and why ? because of broad misunderstanding and bias .

conjuration is effectivly an element of necromancy , but it has been deemed "acceptable" therfoer it is not frowned upon , yet the only differance i can really see between it and hard-line necromancers are that the summons are only temporeary rather than permenant.

in skyrim ( tes five) things are differant , necromancy is loosely accepted , the collage of winterhold does not persocute (and attempt to murder) members who practise necromancy , and now nercomancy is no longer so hyped -up evil dark magic . its become far more standard.

i dont doubt travens good , but ultimatly his - and let us be frank - personal hatred for necromancy made him a lot of powerful enimies which were to result in his downfall , traven misunderstood the deep and complex issues with necrmancy , the art is feared but popular , heavily practised but in secret . traven should of put some restrictions on the arts , instead he just comes out with " right , no more necromancy , if you dont like it get out . no discussion."

it angers me that so many of tamriels most learned are so beligieranti n their " necromancy is evil" track , it getting old . its time they opended there normaly broad minds to necromancy . they fear it because they dont understand it . they could understand it but refuse to . so nothing ever changes.

this failure to change , this faliure to adapt to this new way of thinking , was to result in the death of traven and the end of the mages guild , yes the guild closed for other reasons but essentially it was because after the OC everybody blamed magic and pointed a finger at the MC , which was seen as reclusive and hostile.

travens ban on necromancy was so serious than not even the death of mannimarco ( who ranks (( depending on who you belive) as 1st or 2nd most powerful mage ever) could reverse the collapse of an outdated and outmoded establishment.
