I've always loved Morrowind culture and Morag Tong/Dark Brotherhood and always wanted to do an RP centering around their struggle. I've been thinking of giving this a chance now with the new Dragonborn DLC shedding some light on Morrowind. My fears, however, are that people will misunderstand the purpose of such an RP and attract the "ninja katana really devoted fan crowd." Not to sound elitist but I've seen it a million times in my past 6 or 7 years here. I've always had a fascination with assassin and guerrilla/resistance groups from the Sicarii, the Haiduc/Hajduk to the Chetniks, the Black Hand and of course the ever popular Nizari or "Hashashin." I want to explore some of those dynamics.

The format of the RP will be small scale adventure/action/heavy dialogue with an emphasis on the culture and philosophy of these two organizations. There will be limited numbers, activity as a requirement, and of course characters dying. I really opened this up because I wanted to know how you guys would like to see this proceed and if I could take in any suggestions. At its core in the most simple of terms, this could be considered a "Morag Tong vs Dark Brotherhood RP." But thinking just in those terms is very shallow and I want to emphasize that that is not at the level which I want to stop. So share some of your ideas and what you'd like to see.

If the idea itself is bad i also have several other ideas to reflect on.

ADDITIONAL RP IDEAS AS OF DECEMBER 20th 2012:

1. I've been wanting to do this sort of mystery/horror sort of RP concerning the history of the Black Star, Malyn Varen and Nalecar. The basic plot would be set within the Skyrim timeline, just as the Dragons begin appearing. There have been a series of gruesome murders by a werewolf within the College of Winterhold but the central plot will be concerning the Black Star. You'd RP a Winterhold College student/instructor or one of the individuals hired to hunt the beast.

2. Another idea with several variations would be a sort of survival/psychological thriller concerning some of the ethics and implications of the Stormcloak rebellion. I was thinking we'd have a small group RPing a band of Stormcloaks and/or Imperial Legionnaires. The plot would be based around Riften at the start. The Imperials send in a small task force within the Rift region to disrupt Stormcloak influence in the area. The area is the territory of a notorious band of Stormcloaks known for their ferocity. So a sort of Apocalypse Now/Apocalypto/Valhalla Rising sort of theme mood.

Past 6 or 7 years... You're making me feel old, bro.

You know I'm up for anything you do. If we could get a good set of people on this, it could work.

Looks like a good idea to me. If I wasn't so strapped on time I'd probably consider joining. Might still too.

I actually really like the sound of your idea. You obviously put a lot of thought into it. So if you do expand on this and actually make a RP out of it, I would love to join.

Here's hoping either, Valenwood or Morrowind.

The RP will be in Skyrim/Solstheim during the time of the game. So Dragons, Stormcloaks, it's all there. The mood I wanted to get was that concept of a shadow war and expanding upon the two assassin guilds. The format is escaping me at the moment. I'd rather not do a "join one of the factions and then go kill each other." I'd much rather have a plot pulling the two groups together and forcing them to deal with one another.

Here's an idea. How about an important figure head for the Tong or DB dies, and they blame each other. They begin conflict with each other, but maybe someone else entirely killed the figureheads and they have to find out who. What do you think?

They really don't need an excuse. We already have a reason why they'd kill each other. The issue is how do we make the story more interesting than just that. I'm going to edit the OP with some other ideas.
