Let's make a list...

Post » Tue Jan 22, 2013 10:41 pm

Of the Dragonborn throughout the eras. My list so far:

1.Miraak
2.Pelinal(?)
3.Alessia(?)
4.Wulfharth
5.Reman
6.Hjalti
7.Mankar(?)
8.Martin(?)
9.The Last Dragonborn

Discuss. Add. Subtract.

I'm fairly certain Ysgramor has been disqualified due to Miraak.

Every Septim emperor would have to be counted if you count Martin starting with Tiber Septim if you consider him to be separate from Hjalti.

Gorieus?

And Ysgrammor, of course, was actually a Dragon.

Not if what MK said was true..i.e they are Dragonblood and not Dragonborn.Their powers are through the covenent between Akatosh(More likely Lorkhan) and Alessia, rather than soul absorbing...Shouting Dragonborn.

Zurin Acartus(Underking) might have been Dragonborn.

He might have just been a member of the Dragon Cult like most of the Atmorans of the time.

I said if you count Martin count all of them.
Zurin Acartus isnt im pretty sure or it is never stated that he is, he is the imperial battle-mage for most of his life and the underking is Wulfharth who is dragon born

Ysgramor is a dragon? (08/03/12)

An interesting theory. But as usual, the credulous minds gravitate to the most outlandish theories.

If Ysgramor was indeed a "dragon", most likely he was a Dragon Priest - in the Late Merethic Era, it would be unlikely for a leader of Ysgramor's reported stature to be unconnected to the Dragon Cult. But connecting the Nord hero Ysgramor with the now-reviled Dragon Cult is of course anathema to those who favor chauvinism over historical truth.

Other possibilities are that Ysgramor was not an individual but an amalgamation of several people - his reported exploits encompass an unreasonable amount of time for a single individual. At the time, anyone of high stature or great prowess in battle would have been considered a "dragon" (the highest compliment imaginable). This does not mean that Ysgramor was in fact an actual dragon, but I have no doubt that the literal-minded among us will not hesitate to jump to the most obvious conclusions. True scholars will of course be more circumspect. (HA)

I read somewhere than Mankar Camoran was not Dragonborn, but in fact had a few droplets of Ayleid blood. I wonder if anyone here can confirm that?

Speculation made to make the Nu-Mantia intercepts more correct then they actually were since they mention "alyeids returning" and it didnt happen in Oblivion.

I counted Martin specially because he seems to have increased mythic importance to your average Septim emperor.

I agree, Martin's special. He probably could've Shouted his way into the Temple in that last quest, if he had the opportunity to learn Thu'um.

You know, speaking about Martin being epic, don't you think it's cool how in Oblivion you can stroll around Tamriel with a future Emperor who is also dragonborn following you around like a puppy? I love doing this! Straight after Kvatch, but before going back to Weynon Priory, he will follow you anywhere and it's amazing! You have got the last ever Septim Emperor following you like a freaking puppy!

Sorry to go off topic, I just had to say that.

Actually that has everything to do with Manky's undisclosed ability to wear the AoK.

There are the unnamed Dragonborns in Sovngarde.

About Mankar, you have to remember he was effectively holding together a Daedric realm. With that magic, it's little wonder he could wear the Amulet. I doubt he was Dragonborn.

He even mentions in his down book learning to breathe fire in another langue, and Skyrim tell us that the Dragonblood is
1. unconnected to bloodlines
2. the only thing that allows people to wear the Amulet.

Dude was dragonborn yo.

Just what is the criteria for being Dragonborn, exactly? Being able to absorb the souls of dragons is a pretty obvious characteristic, but dragons haven't always been around. That, and Shezzarine =/= Dragonborn.

So what are we going by, and do bloodlines really count? Being blessed by Akatosh and being blessed by Akatosh with the soul of a dragon are two completely different things.

Naturally. Though I wouldn't discount the blooded notion entirely. "Divine Mystery" and all that.
