Split-Screen Online?

Post » Thu Mar 25, 2010 6:22 am

I'm not sure if this has been discussed (maybe my search wasn't exact), but I think this would be a really good feature to implement.

I've found that I play Call of Duty Black Ops a LOT more than any other previous FPS because I can play it with friends online when they come over. I've stayed away from previous FPS games a lot because of the lack of split-screen online, but I think the option to play this way has made a lot more people interested in playing. I don't go a single day without seeing people playing split-screen online. I just think it would be a great selling feature.

Anyone else think this is great? I mean, ultimately it can't be a bad thing to include especially since if people don't want to give up half their screen they don't have to. :P

There is no split screen to begin with so online multiplayer splitscreen is not going to happen. :whistling:

I'm a big fan of playing together on one system, but I don't like Splitscreen much.
Games like Worms are great, but games like Call of Duty in splitscreen are ... meh.

That certainly depends on the size of your TV. TV's are progressively getting bigger, and many people are also starting to get projectors, allowing them to split their screen into 4x50" or even more. That aside, is online-split-screen something that could be added to the game in the future? In form of a DLC perhaps?

It has potential, but I don't particularly want it.
The devs said no, and I think they made the right choice. This way they can include other stuff.

Well, "split-screen online" could be done outside of the actual game, if you really wanted to for whatever reason, but I'm not sure how much effort anyone would want to put into it. You would just have to get a virtual LAN connection between the two computers and put their screen on a second monitor. Then you would be able to see everything the other person does on their computer, so they would just have to get on brink and play with you.

It would be great to have LAN so we can play with friends against bots offline. I can always bring my system and small tv over to my friends and we can both play side by side off his wireless internet which is always a blast.
