Auggghh...dumb dumb dumb!

I'm level 18 in a dead is dead playthrough...just having a bit of a relaxing wander through the wastes getting my character's head together again after Waters of Life and Trouble On The Homefront (and solving it for the first time without killing anyone).

So, I decide to explore a bit out to the north of the DC ruins, and cross the little bridge at the Super Duper Mart...wasted an enclave outpost, a raider and his dog, searched for a dead trader and felt sorry for his pack brahmin and dog (unsuccessfully searched I might add), and looted the corpses of the rather cheeky Talon death squad that actually did ambush me (it's easy to get lazy and 'unaware' after Homefront I think) and it's late dusk.

So, thinking I'd find a nice layover for the night and rp it out a bit, I clamber up onto the overpass nearby (the one just to the north on the potomac up from the bridge), but in the gathering darkness I thought I spotted either an ammo box or some other booty out on the overpass proper...so, up I jump, and run up towards it, thinking to my real life self about how thankfull it was that the game didn't include collapsing structures....and then fell through the crack in the road surface that I didn't see in the dark....

Auuuuggghhh...*headbang on computer desk....@#$%ing roleplaying 'no pipboy light' cursing...

Man, even several thousand hours of playing later, after release, this game still requires you to have your **** together...

Yes it does, and that's one of the reasons I love it so much!

Wastelands are a hard place to live. Did you read the wastelands survival guide ? My character wrote it, and according to a random encounter it is a life saver.

This is why it was the first time I didn't waste anyone in the good ol' Vault...I bit my tongue and let them live their dreams of "Oh, we'll be okay..." (And, well, Officer Gonzales actually said something that made an awful lot of sense).

As daStig says, turn your back on this game even for just a moment, and it will bite you on the *ss.....
