Games Similar to TES (Console)

TES, especially Skyrim, are decent games. Open-world gameplay, freedom to be whoever you want to be, emphasis on side-quests and other activities, decent story, good RPG features, ability to roleplay, among many other things.

But I'm looking for something a bit more richer in design. Not that Skyrim isn't 'rich' to say, but I want something with a bit more better combat in it, and better animation/character design. Skyrim just feels very... unprofessional... if that makes sense...

I was looking at the Gothic series and the Witcher series, and the Witcher seems the most appealing. Fable I was a great game, but it is old and outdated and I have played that out so many times when I was younger.

I just want to hear from the community. I like anything in a medieval-type setting, or feudal system, whatever. Nothing sci-fi, nothing modern, etc...

It's worth taking a look into the http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1435705-skyrimmy-rpgs/ discussion we had a while ago. The most popular RPGs were more or less covered.

I definitely recommend both Witcher games, but only if you don't mind that they're not open world and have a pre-defined protagonist (though the latter isn't much of a problem if you, as a player, don't know Geralt's history, because in-universe he has amnesia anyway).

I will read that thread Rosveen, thanks. The Witcher games looked good, but it's not what I am after. I don't doubt they're very cool games (watched gameplay on it), but it's not what I want.

I want to start off with a character, design him, and then be thrust into the world to do as I please... an RPG, but mixed with TES and Fable I or something...

I'm not dissing TES, but they typically feel cheaply developed.
