Drug names

I was just curious as to where some drug names came from. I understand psycho and radaway, but what about Med-X and Mentats? I thought maybe mentats were mints that enhance your attributes or something. Just wanted to know where you guys and gals think drug names came from.

Med-X is a made-up name, so that Fallout 3 and New Vegas will comply with anti-drug laws in the more restrictive countries.

http://www.falloutwiki.com/Mentats is a reference to the Mentats of Frank Herbert's Dune. If you haven't read Herbert's magnum opus, mentats are basically humans-computers, conditioned to process data as fast and as efficiently as possible, offering computer-level anolysis (machines that emulate human thought are banned as a result of the Butlerian Jihad, a war fought against thinking machines.

That makes sense.
