Before anything, I want to announce this is my last fan-fic. My other fan-fic, Embers of a world, will be finished later on. For now, I want to make a serious Fan fic, that describes me, how I feel, how I think, and all that shows me. I'm putting me into words, upon which I base this fan-fic. Not a tribute, but a story. So anyone who reads this, please take the time to put a good critique and at least tell me what you think.

Oh, and yes, I'm continuing the characters from my other Talon company fan-fic, so Clive and everyone else is back on the ball. Here we go.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Severed cords

Clive lit his cigarette, looking in the distance at the wasteland underpass. The makeshift car was speeding ahead through the highway, as Enclave Vertibirds sped ahead of him.

" John, you better know how to drive"

John looked over to Clive while handling the dune bug

" No prob sir"

John swirled back into place as the car sped ahead into the onlooking hilltop of Talon Company headquarters, Ft.Constantine. The car sped through the wreckage on the streets, the sun's brightness showing crimson colors reflecting the sorrow of its in-content inhabitants.

John drove through the front gate, the guards opening it's rusty release just in time. Parking into the main lot, Clive and the group walked out of the car.

" John, Vernor, Dave, get to the main building and tell Jabsco that our job is done"

The group nodded in unison and left for a dilapidated office building, now reconstructed with the aid of the new American prospectors, the Enclave. Talon Company displayed its banner over the pre-war American flag, the blood of millions squandered behind the dark colors of its new inhabitants.

Clive walked over to the CO quarters building and entered. The dusty air particles blanketed his face softly, embedding onto the layer of grime on his already worn out face. He sighed and took a seat in his office desk, next to his radio.

" Journal Entries may ass, I need some me time"

He turned the switch for his terminal and watched as the green screen whirred to life, it's bulky circuits and parts resonating through the room. He opened up a few pages of his personal logs and started reading.

Entry log #1

The company has sent us to D.C, and now we have a new client, the Enclave. Seems we'll be busy for the rest of the month.

Entry log #2

The company has issued new orders, we're being provided air support from our mysterious client. These machines are very effective, as they were tested out on the muties yesterday, can't wait to see how good they'll work out. Woop's, don't want to spoil the suprise now, hehe.

Entry log #3

The Enclave did it. They just broke down the Brotherhood. It's our chance, we can relocate to Ft. Constantine. I finally can't wait to taste some clean water.

Entry log #4

D.C is being combed, and the base is in bad condition. Repairs are underway, so I'll be sent to the capital to sweep with the squad. Vernor is a bit anxious, should check up on his pills.

Entry log #5

The Enclave hasn't paid up, and my squad is going the long way back to D.C. Hell of a great time to do so.

Entry log #6

I just returned from D.C. [censored] this. I'm not cut out for muties, I'm going back to good old fashion settlement raiding.

Entry log #7

The Washington monument we captured a few months ago is being renovated by the Enclave. Cashed us out with pre-war money. Nice deal to me, if we rebuild, that is.

Entry log #8

Scout reports from the Georgetown area reported that the Enclave have rebuilt the Citadel, and they took over Independence, the Outcasts gave up and joined in. Pretty damn funny to see they fell in with the better deal. Finally, their skulls got comfy.

Entry log #9

Bannister just got renovated by the Enclave too. They built this big-ass cannon on one of the cliffs, pretty nice guns they got. Too bad they don't have a few bits of pre-war artillery like we do, or do they?

Entry log #10

Well, we got a contract to track down the LW. He is being cornered down in Evergreen mills, the raiders took him in for some caps and now they're hiding out. The Enclave doesn't want to go in so we have to do the dirty work, how fun.

Entry log #11

Bastard put up a fight. Too bad he didn't live. Took a bullet to the arm though, so that was a pain for me.

Entry log #12

Wow, the Enclave rebuilt most of their pre-war bases. Looks like some brightness in the wasteland. They just fixed up the purifier and now they're getting crowds of people. How nice. More recruits for us, as stated in their contract.

Entry log #13

Tenpenny tower fell in line for the Enclave. Seems that the old coot, Tenpenny, finally handed over his tower for a nice seat in the Enclave. Looks like they got vaccines for us so called "mutants"

Entry log #14

I got my vaccine, pretty quick. The Base looks much better than it did a year ago, I should check out the bathrooms and see how nice they are now.

Entry log #15

Wow, they got all their outposts up in condition, and now they fortified their airbase and destroyed the railway to it. Now we see planes flying over the H.Q, nice planes though. Wonder if we could get one of those.

Entry log #16

Rivet City has just docked off for port. Can't believe it! They actually built that tub back up and fixed it!!! Stupid wastelanders, looks like we're stuck with no luck for plunder.

Entry log #17

Megaton just got blown to bits. Jabsco ordered the artillery boy's to open fire and take that town out. The Sheriff sent us cash not to, but we don't take caps.

Entry log#18

Woooo! The view from that nuke was nice! Can't believe a nuclear bomb was so pretty when it blew up.

Entry log #19

The Enclave is building up more power, and now the only settlements out there are gone, Rivet city is off into the blue, Tenpenny is under Enclave banner, and now Megaton is rubble. Wonder if we can take out Arefu

Entry log #20

D.C just got a whole lot less prospecting. The Enclave found out where the muties are coming from and just set off another nuke. Nice. Now we won't get anymore contracts into the blue. Now more settlements are popping up, and raiders are doing the same. We need cash, and the Enclave is offering it if it means attacking HEAVILY defended raider towns.

Entry log #21

War is getting bad. The raiders at Evergreen popped up from no where and are now the new major hub of raider territory. Jabsco has built up a wall around the fort, so now we're wasting cash on laser turrets and walling. Great.

Entry log #22

Well, looks like D.C has a bright future, now whats left of the open wasteland desert is pretty bleak. Some towns here and there, a few contracts sprung up. Good cash to make, so I'm getting to it.

Clive looked at his hands, covered in blood.

" Wonder what next day is going to be like.......oh well"

He typed up a few words and turned off the terminal, settling into his bed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arefu

Evan king looked at the floor of his shack, screaming in terror as it rocked left and right.

" Damnit, I knew we never should have let them check up!"

He gritted his teeth as a large artillery shell blew apart the roof and landed on him.

Karen Schenzy ran outside of her shack, watching as the highway pass began to rumble.

" What's going on!"

The small town of Arefu, with its small population of 60 people, was in complete chaos, people screaming as shells blew apart their shacks or tents.

" WHATS GOING ON!!"

She continued running around until she came to the town entrance, watching as a large horde of blue was on the horizon. Dune bug's as Talon Company called them.

" Ah crap! Everyone take cover, here they come!!"

She ran the opposite direction as the chaos continued. She ran and ran, hearing the sounds of whirring gear mechanisms and tire against the pavement get closer. She kept on running.

" Please, no, just stop it!"

She stopped and stood on her knee's, looking at the raving mercenaries ride onwards.

" Stop it, please......"

She had tears run down her grizzly face, now aged with time. She simply stared as the face of a young 18 year old Talon merc passed her in the blink of an eye. His face filled with vigor and excitement. Her face filled with anguish.

Her head lopped off from the neck, falling to the floor.

I don't think it's possible to make a story that involves how you feel, think and such, to be called a "tribute"? More egotistical :P Good story I guess, the logs are kinda short and not very captivating to me.

1. Don't worry max, this isn't log style fan-fic, it's a third person view.

2. I'll update this in a while. Saturday.

Picking the pieces

Clive looked outside through the balcony of office building he was standing on. The gale wind breezed across his face, blood red light peering through the veil of shadow that has fallen over the wasteland.

He simply stared, to his left, he saw a radscorpion attacking a small herd of brahmin, and to the right, he could see vertibirds storm in and out of D.C. He simply sighed and looked on. The spectacle of the wasteland musing his mind.

" Damn Instamash, I knew I should have taken the steak when I had the chance"

He sat down on a nice red velvet chair, relaxing himself and crossing his feet. He continued with his rambling until the door to the roof opened, the dust kicking up into the air. Dave walked out and saluted Clive.

" Sir, I heard about the raid on Arefu, did you guy's get anything good?"

Clive looked at him, his deep red eyes revealing the hours of insomnia he had been through.

" A few packages of food, scrap metal, a terminal, a few batteries, thats about it. You get anything interesting lately?"

Dave put a smile.

" Sir, the only thing we've been doing since the D.C contracts was testing out John's new nuke launcher, and he keeps on finding ammo for that thing, and he drags me along whenever he goes looking for some. So no, nothing"

" Pity, I was getting excited to hear about your life. You think we should go scavenging and check out the ruins of the mall? Ever since the muties got their ass's kicked, there ain't been any ops in the area. Maybe we can find ourselves a few trinkets. You up for the job?"

Dave laughed

" Sir, you speak my language clearly, hell yes!!"

Clive stood up and dusted himself off.

" Meet me in 0300 hours. Got it?"

" Roger that"

Clive then marched himself down the flight of stairs, leaving Dave to himself.

Bethesda ruins, Financial district

John laughed as the blast rocked the building. Vernor looked over to him.

" That was huge! Set off another one"

" Alright, give me a sec"

John set down his Fat-man launcher and grabbed a mini-nuke from a backpack next to him. He loaded it in place and hoisted it back on his shoulder.

" Alright, give me a target"

Vernor took his sniper rifle and started looking above the raider camp. The last nuke had taken out their loot shack, sending them all over the ruins in fear. He grinned as he found a small tent formation.

" Tents to your right, 26 degree's below"

" Let's show them a real light show"

John grinned as he staggered upwards. He slowly tilted his weapon down on the camp and looked at it.

" What's that saying the Mexican's use in the old holo-films?"

Vernor looked at him

" Hasta la.......hasta la something,........vista?"

John frowned.

" Hasta la vista"

John pulled the trigger and watched as his projectile found its mark, sending off another miniature mushroom cloud into the camp. The explosion roared as the concentration of power boomed the alleyway.

" Again?"

" Yep"

The National Mall, D.C

Clive walked along the broken sidewalk as he watched the Washington monument, fortified inside and out with Enclave devices. Dave stood behind him, taking in the sights they remembered clearly.

" All of these fortifications for nothing. Kind of wierd they would worry about such a useless thing"

Clive stopped

" It broadcasts their signal nationwide, thats why. If they can get a message to their brass, the Wasteland will be back in their hands"

" I thought they lost their oil rig a while ago, where else?"

"Everywhere, their numbers are swelling, and they probally have more mainland bases. Ever wonder where those vertibirds come from?"

" Sounds reasonable I guess..."

They then nodded and started walking. Clive looked at the spot where the trenches used to be, instead, there was just nice, plain dirt. Dave looked around and kept his thoughts on his own accord.

After a while of trotting around the ruins, Clive looked at a door leading to a abandoned hotel.

" You want to go in?"

Dave nodded. Clive nodded then lifted his foot and kicked down the door. A nice cloud of dust settled into his face.

" Gah, [censored] dust"

Dave chuckled.

" Ah, shut up"

They holstered their weapons and walked inside, the creaking sounds of the support beams crawling on their ears.

Dave took a left flight of stairs while Clive took the right. They both reached the top and came through a large wooden door, coming upon the remains of what looked to be a military gallery.

" Holy......."

Clive juttered

" Jackpot"

They both headed to the next flight of stairs, realizing there was no flight of stairs.

" AHHHH!!!!"

They both fell onto the manequin models of Chinese soldiers.

Clive stood up and coughed up a little blood.

" Never again will I trust a staircase"

Dave then stood up

" Keep that in mind as-well"

The Talon mercs walked upon the gallery, looking around them.

On one end, there stood a small case full of worn out R-91's and Chinese AK-110's. Then there was a small gallery featuring military cargo trucks full of more worn weapons. What really stood out was a suit of armor sitting in the back corner. It had a nice blue glare to it.

" Check it out! Let's grab it"

Clive and Dave walked towards the suit. Clive brushed off the dust from a plaque next to it, reading it.

MK.III Tesla armor.

This suit of armor provided by the United states West Tek company

This armor is the most advanced piece of electro-magnetic technology the
U.S has developed. Rivalling the level of technology in things such as the Chinese stealth suits and Gauss rifles, this armor will negate the impact of energy weapons by a great deal. Two Tesla coils on the side provide resistance to energy based weaponry, and the combination of steel/ceramic castings has provided a comfortable suit of armor for our troops on the front. Read more at your local recruitment center!

Clive then slowly grabbed the suit. Taking it from it's spot, he took it from its place.

Dave remarked

" Well that went well"

Suddenly a loud alarm noise rung through the building

" You just had to open your mouth"

Dave's face grew red with shame. But before they could argue, three sentry bots appeared from 2 large back doors.

" Threat assesment: Code Red/ Prepare to die Communist"

Clive and Dave grew pale at the sight.

" Ah fu......."

Unexpected stay

Clive and Dave looked at the sentry bots.

" Now what!!!" Dave barked.

They both looked at each-other then turned towards the sentry bots.

" Well F.U.C.K you too!!"

They both wielded their weapons and fired wildly, setting off discharge into the sentry bots, riddling the steel hull with holes. The machines whirred and started rolling their gattling guns, spraying bullets onto the mercs position.

" Take cover!"

Dave jumped behind a truck while Clive stood behind a concrete column. The sentry bots continued firing, launching small rockets at them. Clive aimed at one of the machines and set a laser shot into its primary targeting array, essentially blinding it.

"Error, systems malfunctioning, emergency backup systems initiated, protocol gamma!"

The sentry exploded into metallic fragments, the other machines doing so as-well.

Clive and Dave watched from across and looked.

" What the hell is protocol Gamma?"

" Don't want to know...."

Before the other could respond, a small clanking noise could be heard. Clive stood back behind the column in fear of being hit, waiting for the odd machine to make its appearance.

" Who's there?"

The clancking continued, the mercs growing more nervous with each step. Clive, taking a step of faith, walked out from his position to see the assailant. A wabling protectron.

" What! What kind of joke is this! They send a protectron to do a sentry bots work! HAHAHAHAH!!!!!"

Clive fell to the floor, laughing loudly at the machine. Dave spurred from his cover also, laughing at the machine.

" Self destruct sequence initiated. Die Communists"

Clive and Dave stopped laughing and looked at the protectron. It's main compartment opened up, revealing three mini-nukes attached to the fission batteries powering the robot.

" Give me a break!!!!"

They both jumped from their positions and started running back through the doors, hurrying before the machine blew the building apart. Clive closed distance to the door first and jumped out, Dave doing so as-well, just in time as a large explosion rocked the building, the foundation being crippled, and the walls beginning to cave in the whole exhibit.

" Few, never again, we'll go poking around that place"

Clive laughed

" It's not like we're going to for a long....time....."

Clive looked at his hands to reveal he had nothing. He then pulled out his backpack from behind and opened it, revealing the brightly illuminated Tesla armor.

" But it gets better"
