The Pre-Order Weapons

Post » Sat Mar 27, 2010 7:55 am

If you don't know: pre-ordering New Vegas from certain places will get you a special weapon depending on where you pre-order the game from. For example, pre-ordering from Steam gets you the "Sturdy caravan shotgun", and pre-ordering from Amazon gets you the "Broad machete".

Yeah, I know that they have to make a profit off this game, but don't the Pre-Order weapons seem kind of pointless? Especially because inevitably there will be mods that add all these weapon to the normal game, as long as there's a GECK-like thing (there better be). Does anyone agree?

I don't think thats something to complain about at all considering that you are getting them at no extra cost. Its just a little 'starting bonus'. They arent meant to be super awsome or special weapons in any way. Most of the items you get for pre-ordering actually are normally in the game anyway... so I don't see why you should be complaining about it at all...

They're not, actually. They're unique versions of weapons already in the game. And I'm not complaining, I'm just saying that with modding, it's a bit pointless.

That IS the point of them. They were easy to implement, and likely only offer a marginal stat advantage over the items they're based on, and yet some people think it's worth RAEG-ing about. :nuke:

Personally I'm not fussed either way over the pre-order weapons at least partially as they're not available where I am.

console users don't have access to mods.... so that's not really a great argument...
But that being said, I agree that the pre-order packs look pretty weak.

I don't see why it matters. Are you worried that someone else is going to have an advantage over you if you don't pre-order?

I bet that all of the armour and weapons will be available for purchase on consoles at least, otherwise there is no way for us to get them. Might even come out on the PC.

I don't see why they wouldn't. They know people would buy it and it's not like it'd cost a lot of money to do it.

If they make the weapons too amazing, then they pretty much run a scam, in alliance with whatever stores get the bonuses. I don't mind a few cute custom weapons to get your character on a comfy start, though in all honesty,... Well, I'll probably stuff all of it in the first container I find, because I'll want my first game to be the 'pure' one. Just going with what the game would give me on its own. Maybe on my second game i'll pretend I'm the Chosen One's kid and try and save Vegas from the evil something or others!

Yes, but it's just starting weapons and you'll probably get better items within an hour or two of playing the game.

Let's try to keep the discussion of the Pre-order stuff in one thread for now.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1097151-new-vegas-preorder-bonuses-announced/

We like to keep things tidy so more discussions can stay near the front page instead of one discussion filling the front page with multiple threads. :)
