Let's start, shall we?
I was on YouTube and read a few comments about ideas for the next Elder Scrolls game and that idea can be summed up as: "Dovahkiin settles down, gets married, gets killed by a Dragon, his son becomes the next Dovahkiin and goes for revenge and is the protagonist of TES VI."
NO!
We all know Skyrim was streamlined and dumbed down. They removed spell-making, a lot of skills, the birth-sign system (WTF, isn't that integral to The Elder Scrolls lore?) and of course, they added Dragons. And Dragonborn. And Dragon Shouts. And now everyone seems to think that's what the Elder Scrolls is: it's Dragons and Dovahkiin. Well let me suggest something, Bethesda: please do NOT make the player character in the next game Dragonborn. PLEASE. I'm literally begging here.
Every single Elder Scrolls Game had you playing as a unique hero, and I'm terrified that just because Skyrim has arguably been the most popular Elder Scrolls Game to date, the producers will try to do what Call of Duty does: rehash the same features in exactly the same way to create a new game. I've got to be honest... Dragon Shouts svcked. They took way too long to recharge and most of them were useless, not to mention the UI was absolutely dreadful. The only thing that kept Skyrim alive for me was mods and I have a feeling it's the same for all of you too.
But this... Idea that the next Elder Scrolls game HAS to feature Dragons and Dragonborn just seems... Stupid to me? Why? Because I'm sick of all the 13 year old children and their obsession with OMGDOVAHKIINFUSRODAH! You know who my favourite hero was? The Nerevarine. Anyone remember him? Huh? No? Okay. :&--#60;
Basically, don't rehash the Dragonborn and Dragon Shout mechanic. The Dovahkiin has had his time (and as of writing, still is having his time &--#62;.&--#62;), now it's time to move on to a new concept. Let the Dragonborn go down in lore, and definitely do not make a "new generation Dovahkiin" to appease all the kiddies.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and bring back all the stuff you took out please. Make the next Elder Scrolls game as rich in gameplay as Daggerfall and as deep as Morrowind and I will love you all forever.
