Gunman-Buster mesh difficulties

I'm attempting a small mod, one that changes the otherwise unobtainable Oliver Anti-Mat Sniper into Yoko's sniper from Gurren Lagann. The gun's effects are basically done (It has the effects and sounds of the Gauss rifle, an EMP effect, more damage to robots, and a MissFortuneKnockbackSpell critical script) But i wanted to use the model of the fully modded AMR for both the 3rd and 1st person models, instead of the normal one the Oliver uses, since Yoko's gun has a thinner silencer and the stock is metal, not wood, and the Silencer/Carbon Fiber parts help achieve this aesthetic. I havent been able to figure out how to do this, even with the GECK forum's help.

I extracted the files to a seperate folder in Fo:NV, namely Meshes/GunRunners, but i'm under the impression that this is the wrong directory because it gives my an "invalid directory" when i select the unpacked mesh for the gun.

Can anybody assist me? i'm probably not the first person to ask this same exact question, but the only relevant Q&A i found was for Fallout 3.

P.S. i'm also making Gunmen, basically humongous robots inhabiting otherwise empty tracts of land. fighting an 8-story Protectron or Securitron is going to be especially fun if i can get the rifle to look right.
