world size

Wow, I didn't know they were in the makings of a new ES game! :wub:

I loved the huge size of Oblivion, I didn't like how Fallout 3 and NV were sooo small,
Skyrim should be humongous. Big enough to need horses, Fast Travel etc,
I loved how in Oblivion there were so many caves, houses, small towns, camps, etc you would only find by wandering the countryside, thats what I miss with the new Fallout games.

Massive Map pL0x :deal:

I voted for 40-60 both times, but I'm thinking 55-60 is good and not much more. 1.5x the size of Cyrodill seems a good size to me. With the way Skyrim is shaped that's a good solid 6 km by 10km area [...or is it 5x12?]. I wouldn't complain about a 6x11 area though.

A world about the size of Red Dead would be good.

Just Cause 2 has a massive world, but remember you have cars, boats, helicopters and planes to get around.

Morrowind feels bigger because you walk slower, no instant access to fast travel, and no horses.

Daggerfall = 62,394 square miles /161,600 square kilometers
Morrowind = 10 square miles/26 square kilometers
Oblivion = 16 square miles/41.5 square kilometers

Side note: Morrowind is a bit smaller than 10 sq miles. However, about half of Oblivion's land mass wasn't reachable in an unmodded game, as opposed to Morrowind, where you could walk damn near everywhere thanks to Levitation. That's another factor why it didn't feel all that much bigger ... because the play area wasn't all that much bigger.

Also, Morrowind had interesting stuff alll over the place, even deep underwater if you cared to look. Oblivion's underwater diversity consists of ... a bunch of fish and a single door, if I remember correctly,

Daggerfall size is big enough. Content would be a problem though.
Large towns, large forests, large plains etc.. Thats how a modern Elder Scrolls game should be constructed.

The entire Elder Scrolls world should be released for free. With each game adding content to that world. As each game is released, more of the world becomes accessible.

that would be awesome, first thing on my list when I become emperor of the earth will be to command this, even if it costs half the world's resources.
