HAH I can't believe it took so long. I haven't really taken my time to get my hands on the expansions, I sort of did but they did not work with my version of Morrowind for various reasons which I'm not allowed to speak of.

So I got this awesome deal and bought Morrowind GOTY edition which included both expansions for a very good price. SQUEEEK! this is so awesome! It will arrive in the post tomorrow. Looking forward to download a lot of new mods that I haven't tried before too Feel free to add some of your recommendations of mods you think I really should try.

Play through the expansions unmodded at least once.

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I enjoyed the Elder Scrolls better back before all the emo haircuts and crotch-revealing fan armor.

I disagree with everything you say here.

First, I don't agree that a player needs to play through the vanilla game and both expansions once (much less "at least once") before coming to a decision about which aspects of the game they wish to change. I think a player ought to add a mod as soon as they decide they don't like something about the game. I don't see the point in suffering through an entire play-through of the vanilla game and both expansions before you add a mod to make NPC faces look decent or to make roadsigns readable or to cut down on NPC chit-chat, etc, etc. If these things annoy you after five hours of play I think you should change those things after five hours.

Second, I take exception to your apparent attempt to characterize the modding scene as "emo haircuts and crotch-revealing fan armor." This is ignorant and rude. You talk as though these mods have somehow permanently changed the game. They haven't. "Emo haircuts and crotch-revealing fan armor" can only change Morrowind if you install them.

I've yet to complete Tribunal and have only played Bloodmoon once :blush:

id say i also have to agreee mods add alot to the experience. the first mods i always install when i do a fresh one are better bodies. necessities of morrowind morrowind crafting children of morrowind abots water life and where are all the birds going. well after i have added the unofficial patch and code patch and mge ofc. after those then i add quite a few of the ones listed on Pseron Wyrd's ilst. though i include clothiers of Vvardenfell . i like korana's house mods so much i use just about all of them . i collect homes like most women collect shoes. *smiles* .

there are just sooo many good mods out there to choose from. anyway welcome to the world that is morrowind hope you enjoy.

Totally agree on the "Change it when it bothers you" part.

Every "complete" playthrough in this game is one VERY LONG time, why torture yourself when you have so many options available to you? It's like saying "eat only one thing for a whole lifetime first" before they can decide to eat anything else, that's a whole lifetime just wasted that you could have spent eating many of the tens of thousands of dishes that exist the entire time.

The next time around, well, there probably won't be a next time, you may be so burnt out from the first time you don't even wanna bother anymore.

One of the first things I do when I get a new game is look for mods for it to see what's available.

No it does not change the game unless you install it, but if you look around certain mod databases and I mean just random browsing, you will probably see quite a handful of what s/he is describing, and "really ridiculously oversized rainbow colored anime style weapons/hair/races". (Kind of like my avatar, but now imagine her with a DBZ or goth hairdo instead holding a weapon twice or even three times her size while wearing stripper clothes that has her butt out, that's about the best description I can give)

I don't really have anything against those who use/make such mods like that, but it is really creepy (Even when your just browsing).

Even if you decide to play through unmodded once, you should put in the latest official patch, the Morrowind Patch Project, and Morrowind Code Patch.

Once you decide to start adding mods, my recommendation is to have your character plan to join House Telvanni, and install Rise of House Telvanni, Uvirith's Legacy, Building Up Uvirith's Legacy and LGNPC Tel Uvirith. Also a quest mod not mentioned above: Scourge of the Lich Father (parts I and II).

Funny: I just ordered GOTY for the PC. I had played the GOTY for Xbox for many, many years. Then my Xbox went away, and so did GOTY.

However, now that I have it for the PC, I can mod stuff. So mod lists are pretty rockin' right now.

If you think that's bad, you should see a few of those mods over at Oblivion...Not trying to be rude, but...
