I was trying to decide where to put this topic. I almost put it in the lore forum, but this seemed like such a little thing. So I'm asking to see what players think about this.

Where the heck do racer plumes come from?

Cliff Racers don't really have any plumes on the model. The texture on the plume is the same as the inside of the racer's beak. It doesn't really look like a clipping from the wing. It's colored wrong to be the pointed spine at the tip of the racer's tail.

My current thoughts on it are just that they planned on adding plumes to the Cliff Racers but decided against or didn't have time. The texture on the plume, and on the inside of the beak is "TX_Cliffracer_wing_02.tga" which further implies that this texture was originally going to be used as part of the wing on the Cliff Racers.

So, any theories?
