Where can I get MF cells?

Post » Mon Mar 29, 2010 8:28 am

I've played through Dead Money a few times but can't seem to recall getting MF cells for the Holorifle. I checked the wiki and there are no codes for the vending machine for MF cells. Any help would be appreciated.

Outside of DM, Silver Rush, and BOS Bunker, but I came across just random ammo boxes that sometimes had like 12 or something in... But other than that can't really say I found any.... But inside DM you should just save the Rifle, and bash em' up with your spear. B)

That is lame. I wanted to go into DM with my EW character and tear up with a Holorifle, looks like it will be another playthrough using the Cosmic Knives.*sigh*

All over, most vendors have them, Gun merchants usually have quite a few.

The Holo vendors have some? I didn't know that. I guess I'll stock up on things to trade then.

Any MF cells you carry into Dead Money are taken from you anyway, so it wouldn't make a difference how many you find before you start it.

If you mean MFCs in Dead Money, then there are some in containers. There are also a goodly number of drained MFCs, which can be recycled; the Vigilant Recycling perk is really helpful here.

The Holorifle itself will not suffice, as it does not keep the Ghost People down. You'll need to shoot them and then use a knife, spear, or bear trap fist on them to remove a limb or the head in order for them to stay dead. This applies even if you have the Bloody Mess perk, as the Holorifle does not do normal damage. It will still knock them out in one shot with the +DMG mod, and you should have enough time to run up and finish them off.

Wut? Just shoot at one body part in VATS, with 100 EW 4 shots is usually enough to shoot out head. They die if limb is crippled even if they have health left.. And yes, Virgilant Recycler is useful. There are ≈400 MFCs in different places.

I found them in random containers all over the place. Don't remember if Dean's stashes had any though. But there are some piles on the ground (possibly drained) which can be easy to miss.

I used workbenches with 100% Science to convert ECP and EC and drained MFC to regular MFC.
Basically used recycled ammo all the time. (I was roleplaying a Blod in there. :disguise: )

Same here. The MF cells were scarce at the start, but later on started getting more and more common. At the end of DM I had 200 - 300 of them. I used the Police Pistol a lot on the small groups of Ghost People, and saved the Holorifle for the bigger groups.

I wish we could make our own knife throwing spears though. KTS FTW!

All of your replies are exactly what I put, inside DM in containers.... He means inside DM not outside.
