Edwyn:
Greetings, good health, &c. Having rec’vd your missive of 9 Sun’s Height, require clarification as to following.
First, is this singular event? If not, characteristic of any pattern or trend?
Second, have you submitted report to Comte?
Third, do you anticipate Isfijer Brigade’s cooperation?
Please comment on your readiness. Cannot dither indefinitely if turning to advantage.

Sir:
In terms of severity and visibility, this is certainly the most notable incident since Covenant. The Comte’s direct participation is without precedent. While anti-Orcish sentiment is undeniably endemic to this region, open sedition is generally relegated to the drunken rants of uncouth villeins. I lack access to certain judicial records and cannot give a proper estimate, but in the two years I personally have only heard of three attacks on individual traders and none against Orcish soldiers.
I have only submitted to the Comte a single noncomprehensive summary, essentially a redacted copy of our quaestor’s first report. I enclose a copy for your review. I must stress that I am in no position to ascertain the extent of the Comte’s knowledge of our views and leave such questions to your more subtle associates.
Isfijer Brigade cannot be expected to align with our purposes. While Captain Jelin is in all respects a good Covenant man and holds no particular love for the Comte, he is inordinately preoccupied with politicking on Sentinel’s behalf. Even so, I do not anticipate intervention if he is left uninvolved and without reason to choose against us.
The local milice has been easy enough to suborn. However, I admit serious doubts concerning their efficacy. Per their roll lists, less than 5% are veterans. The majority have drilled infrequently, and many no more than twice yearly. Precious few can march, let alone hold a sword. The only proper mages in the lot are few half-trained novices out of Aldcester. I most earnestly believe my command will not suffice in bolstering this rabble’s capabilities. Unless you can convince our friends to move more openly within the next several days, I simply will not have enough soldiers. Thus, I greatly desire that some of our own be despatched at once; I could make do with a mobile company but would really prefer a half-regiment at minimum. If you find it possible to assemble and despatch a unit within 36 hours of receipt, I can delay action until arrival without detriment.
Yours as always,
Captain Macile

Upon receipt please have best mage contact straightaway. Will give further instructions & full collab. list via same. Don’t worry over Comte intercepting—does not have any for it.
