Can't play in MSAA 8x with gtx680 sli?

Post » Sat Feb 23, 2013 10:16 pm

Can anyone play this on MSAA 8x with a gtx680 sli setup? Im getting like 30 fps with 8x, but as soon as I switch to MSAA 4x, it runs very smooth at 60 fps. I have everything else maxed out as well, only motion blur is set to medium. I also have the 314.07 drivers installed.

Specs:

Windows 7 Pro
i7 3770k @ 4.4ghz
gtx 680 sli
16 gb RAM
120 gb SSD
900w psu
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Cpu fan

Crysis 3 is a very demanding game and MSAA is a memory bandwidth hog for graphics cards. I honestly would be surprised if someone could!

This sounds about right to me. I have similar setup with a gtx 690 and I have to use smaax2 to get > 60 fps. How are your frames in mp? Because I'm getting 55-75 in so then > 100fps in mp with the same settings. Seems a little odd to be getting more in mp, but sp def looks absolutely gorgeous.

@ DrMilzie, I'm getting around 70 - 80 fps in multiplayer with 4x msaa, I haven't tried 8x msaa in multiplayer because the game looks amazing with 4x and smooth as hell. It does seem odd to be getting more fps in multiplayer.

@ OneBro, That's what I thought before I got the game. I was thinking I should be able to run this at the maximum settings with no problems since I run every other game at max perfectly. I guess this is a really demanding game and you most likely need to have a 690 sli setup.

sorry dude, GTX680 x2 SLI is not enough for MSAA 8x
you need
Intel Xeon E7-8870
64GB RAM 2400MHz
GTX Titan 4way SLI
to run with MSAA 8x

@ Zixi, I think thats a bit extreme, considering I can play any other game maxed out with 60 fps. I'm getting 90 - 100 fps in the original Crysis. I also have MSAA 8x enabled in other games like Far Cry 3 and get 60 fps. I do think you might need 2 690's for Crysis 3 to run @60 fps on 8x, but 64 gb of RAM and 4 titan's, that's unnecessary and ridiculous.

My first suggestion would be that nVidia have yet to release a properly functional SLI profile for Crysis 3, so SLI will work decently in MP because there's less to process.

Try disabling one of the cards and run SP again. My bet is that it'll run fine with MSAA x8...Hell, I run a single Radeon 7970 and I'm getting MINIMUM 80fps (120Hz display no vsync) in SP with MSAA x8!
