Fallout: Tactics 2 (Hypothetical Discussion)

Okay, so first off, who here would like Bethesda to hire another studio (like Interplay did with Micro Forté and Bethesda did with Obsidian) to develop a Fallout: Tactics 2?

Secondly, how would you have liked it to be designed, what aspects should be improved, what skill set would be the most viable, how should SPECIAL be designed (especially with Charisma in mind).

And finally, what factions would you like to see in it and what storyline would be interesting to follow up on?

Maybe if we get to discussing this and hyping it up Bethesda might actually be inclined to give a thought. Especially once Wasteland 2 releases and shows that there is a market for a game of this kind.

Personally, I would love to see a 2nd Tactics game that follows up on the events of the first game with the Barnaky ending as canon.
But there are quite a lot of things I would like to see changed, added and removed.

First of all, I would like MLA to be the protagonist faction of this game, that way we can be rest assured that mutants can be part of the players team.
It could bring a lot of interesting interactions, both from writing and gameplay to see how companions cope with one another and the environment around them.

It would make Barnaky the default villain of the storyline but it doesn't mean that they can't be grey or that you can't choose to spare their soldiers once captured or allow them to join. It would be interesting to see how people in Barnaky's Army are dealing with the whole thing, and see various personalities through conversations, overheard conversations and diaries about how some hate being in the army but don't have any choice or how some of them hates mutants but feel like they're doing the wrong thing just killing them off like they do.

It would be a good way to make a default villainous group have a soul and be more than just cannon fodder. It could also be a good way to challenge the players morals. Imagine kicking down the door to a BA outpost and gunning down the soldiers then reading a journal where one of them explains how he joined BA as it was the only way for his village to get protection from raiders and the like and that he misses his family every day and can't wait to get back to them. With good writing it could put a tear to the players eye that you just gunned down a bunch of generic soldiers and that one of them actually had a family, he actually had a heart, that his life ended by your hands solely cause he didn't have any other choice and that he will never get to see his sister and mother again.

But that you're also forced to do this, you're forced to fight for your own army and that some day you might be the one who is gunned down in your sleep.l

I'll update with more ideas I'd love to see in Tactics 2 later.

(As to moderators, no this is not something that should be in the Fallout 4 thread.)

I'd love for a Tactics 2!

And to see how they would actually make Charisma and Speech useful in Tactics... There could be different approaches to the entire storyline. You could go for a Guns/Explosives/Melee build and just kick the Brotherhood's asses, or if you go for Speech, you would even be able to get off the battlefield and go on exclusive infiltration missions. You could also use your Charisma to gain support in the regions you "liberate". You ain't liberating nothin' if ya ain't got the support of the people! You gotta be charismatic for that. Either you use your charisma as a leader type, or as an infiltrator type where you could get in and wreck havoc with words behind the enemy lines.

Tactics 2 wouldn't just have to be about focusing on missions where you attack BoS outposts and kill everyone or retrieve some kind of tech you need or whatever (like Tactics was like) but you could also go into towns with your squad, make them feel comfortable with your presence, speak to their mayor, get on good terms with them, and if the town likes you, you can recruit people from them or hide stuff among them. Turning Tactics 2 into more of an RPG where every quest wouldn't have to be combat. I was also a bit inspired by Total War with the whole "town management" thing, although you don't manage the town. This is on a much smaller scale. You might also get ambushed by BoS in your supporter's towns, or you ambush BoS infiltrators in them.

...I started writing a post about what Tactics 2 should do in my opinion, but then I realized I was just describing what Wasteland 2 is doing as we speak.
