Going SLI

Is it just me or is going SLI a complete waste of money? mainly if you arent going over 1920x1080 resolutions. I have a I7 3770K at 4.2GHZ and 2 GTx 680s and the only time both cards are even over 50% usage is when im playing crysis, weather its crysis 1 or 2 or 3, yet with every other game is below 50% and im not getting the FPS I should be, I have a few games iv been playing which are supreme commander and company of heroes, either game does not exceed more then 30% gpu usage on both GPUs and my frames are a lot lower then what i can get, I have a 120hz monitor and want to get my games to play at 120 fps which im fully capable of getting but my GPUs just arent working like they should.

Can anyone explain to me why my GPUs are working at such low percentages?

I agree and think SLI is a waste of money and something for enthusiasts to brag over. You can always build a bigger and better PC if your wallet allows it. Just aslong as you can run Crysis 3 you have a better gaming computer than most others who game but cant play crysis.

Its a waste of money. You'll gain very little for a lot of money. Also beware of dual GPU on one card. Pretty much same situation.

Are you sure its the same for dual GPU cards? because I plan on getting the GTX 790 when its released and id rather not have the same problem.

My real problem with SLI is microstutter. This seems to happen even on dual GPU. You might want to research that. And yeah, I think the dual GPU is kind of gimmiky at a much higher cost than the single GPU. Things just don't seem to go well when go past the single GPU. I think the distances between them have a lot to do with it. Plus, there is some issue with all the memory not getting used.
