Arvak's Skull

I completed the quest and learned the spell after speaking to the soul npc.

However the skull is still in my inventory.

Is this suposed to happen ? What to do with it now ?

I used it for decoration.

Store it, sell it, use it for decoration. Doesn't matter in the least. It's just a skull.
